I have a ws-12-250-dc and upgraded to the latest firmware. Firmware update processing never completed after 12 hours, so i was left to hard reboot the switch. Well of course it did not come back up. I am trying to console into the unit and just get to black screen. All Ethernet interfaces are disable so it appears and have no lights.
The console cable i am using is the same one i use to console into my nortel and other devices.

Did you set your serial port as per the following?

I am not sure if the Nortel cable is a straight through or NULL cable?
We need a NULL serial cable.

Re: Bricked ws-12-250-dc - attempted console recover
Ok so I am stumped on this now....I ordered in a replacement netonix dc switch and I connected my null modem cable to the console port. Still just have the black screen and this is on a brand new netonix. I pulled out a mikroik 493 which has a console port on it and I am able to get access to it no problems using the same setup and same cable. Did I miss a step? Seems strange that I can not get into even a brand new switch via console.

Well I am not sure but I am 100% positive our console ports work as we use them when testing and serializing.

Not sure what to tell you?
You can always RMA the unit and we will test the console port.
I called my WISP office and asked for what specific NULL cable they used and where they got it but the answer was the old junk cable box from the 1990's in the back.
