Switch stopped passing traffic by AC2 discovery scanning

Sun Aug 28, 2016 11:35 am

Scanning with AirControl2 discovery made my switch (WS-10-250-AC) unresponsive and stopped passing packets. Had to power cycle to get it up running again. Firmware v1.4.2
It's connected to other switch (WS-12-250-AC) by fiber....

Any idea why that happens ?

If you run into an issue always please try the latest RC version and see if the problem still exists.

The reason for this is v1.4.2 or the latest "Stable" version is a closed to development thread so we will need to fix the issue in the current thread being developed.

In this case I think v1.4.3rc7 will correct your issue but if not please let us know and if you can arrange a call and Team Viewer demonstration with Eric we will fix it ASAP.

It's a switch in production. I don't want to play with firmware on that.

AC2 was scanning complete network with a lot of Netonix switches. This was the only switch that stopped passing packets because of the scan.
This is also the only switch I have with a fiber uplink.
Could the fiber uplink be the issue ?

No, this was a known and fixed bug.

If you want to use v1.4.2 simply disable all services with known bugs:
Discovery Protocols
Discovery Tab
SMTP notification
And do NOT do scheduled port bounce in the CLI or you will corrupt the config.

There are some other bugs fixed but these are the biggest ones.

But as I say read release notes and see if anything NEW AND BIG was added or simply mostly bug fixes which is what v1.4.3rc7 is

Look, I am a WISP as well so if there is something to be concerned about I would not recommend using an RC version without warning you something is NEW and untested but when the RC version is mostly fixes and small insignificant new features I will suggest using the RC version.

As I said I am a WISP as well and never recommend using something I myself am not using.

If I take the time to send out a PM alert that means I am worried about you otherwise I just post the new RC version and let you decide. WHen I send out a PM Alert there is good reason. Now you have to decide if me knowing the ins and outs of what is going on with the firmware should you heed my warning?
