Chris@edgarhighspeed.com wrote:Can someone answer me this? If I have a switch with bouncing voltages and I remove the switch, and plug it in on the bench. Should the voltages still bounce?

Are the fluctuating voltages only apparent when a grounding issue is occurring or once the switch is damaged from a grounding issue will the voltages always fluctuate until the switch is fixed.

I am trying to figure out if I still have a grounding issue or if I wreaked both switches prior to upgrading the grounding.

Are you talking about a WS-6-MINI?

I made a post about this today, it may be a software issue: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2037&p=15221#p15221

We are investigating it now and should have an answer by Friday.

Well this bug could affect all models but has been reported mostly with the WS-6-MINI.

If the switch works fine other than the voltages are fluctuating slightly I would wait for the result and possible firmware fix.

I had some hang ups when I enabled port 8 Poe power and switch hung. Not sure if it was related but I replaced it and it's about to be put on the bench this afternoon.

F/w 1.4.4

If you need to test a unit let me know and I can give remote access to the switch on the bench.

So you're saying you have a unit on your bench that has fluctuating voltages on your bench with a single Ethernet cable attached and providing no POE?

Sure, give it a public IP and send me a PM with the IP, username, and password.

Then We will gladly play with it over the next couple days.

Just checked the device on the bench again, it is not fluctuating. So I must have been logged into the live device. late nights and little sleep. i'll let the one on the bench run overnight and check it again in the AM.

Well this is where the possible software issue may come in.

Can you plug ethernet devices in all the ports, I do not think they need to be POE device but can be.

I have loaded up the switch with Ethernet devices, non-poe and it is now fluctuating. Do you still want remote access?

Nope that is what I need to know.

We are looking into this as a software issue, please wait for an update.
