Best signal AF24 HD

Wed Jan 06, 2016 5:03 pm

Curious what the best signal and modulation anyone has gotten with AF24 HD

Our link 2.453 miles - 59-60 dB - QAM64

Wondering if we could do better, would love/need if possible for this link to get QAM256

@ 2 miles but I know it could be align better on the remote side.

Chain 0 (Actual/Ideal): -59 / -58 dBm
Chain 1 (Actual/Ideal): -63 / -58 dBm
Rem Chain 0 (Actual/Ideal): -61 / -58 dBm
Rem Chain 1 (Actual/Ideal): -61 / -58 dBm

I understand your link is 2.4km further than this one we have shown below, however here is an example of 256QAM and seeing both the TX & RX capacities exceeding the specs.

We literally had this link sitting at 64QAM, and were stumped why we couldn't get any better.....then.....we lowered the power. ;-)

Curious, drop down 2 or 3 dBm and I'd be curious if you see an improvement.

Under 5 miles, these things SCREAM and really perform.

Let me know!

what is the threshold for 256QAM in signal? Is it similar to the AFX line? If so, doesn't look like you have any room to drop power because you'd need around -60 for 256QAM...

Would love to be able to get my link to QAM256 too. Also was trying to install an identical second AFHD in the same direction for a backup link unsuccessfully.
Radios were about 20' apart on seperate towers. Ubiquity say I should be able to do this. . Thoughts?

This is one of our primary backhauls, it replaced a SAF 24GHz unit with bigger dishes.

The SAF unit would always fade out in heavy rain, this has been up for almost a year. Survived a really bad ice storm, only dropped down to 16QAM. I did have it fully fade out in a rain storm a few days ago. We got over 3 inches of rain within an hour and some.

Attached is one of my AF 24 links. This is not an HD unit.
