OK so this is interesting...
One WS-8-150-AC I took out of service for fluctuations and was going to RMA is on the bench and very stable with nothing plugged in.

Perhaps I pulled the trigger too soon on the nuclear option of fibre... oh well no big deal... needed more ports anyway.
And we found a $6 SFP in the bargain that works with Netonix.

Plug 4 or 5 Eth devices into the switch, does not need to be poe devices just Eth links and the fluctuation may return.

As I said earlier we are looking at a software issue that affect multiple models.

Our programmer Eric was supposed to be back to work today but we have not heard from him.

Yep, started to fluctuate at the 5th device.
Not as bad as it did before.

Will wait to hear what y'all come up with.

My switch that was installed at my core fiber site ( ws-8-150AC) that had fluctuating voltages started to reboot, thankfully at 5:00pm and again at 6:00pm. The switch was running 1.4.4 and I thought I would reinstall a downgrade of the firmware to 1.4.2 in case that was why it was rebooting. During the firmware downgrade it rebooted and now I believe the switch is bricked.

I tried a console connection and nothing. the switch turns on and the fans run at high speed all the time. nothing shows in the console. I will be returning for an RMA.

Thank heavens I ordered a new ws-12-250AC yesterday and it arrived today. it is now installed at the main fiber site running 1.4.2 and no voltage fluctuations.

Well we have never seen this on a WS-24-400B????
We are investigating if this is a firmware issue or damage or failure.

If we can not determine this be software over the next couple days we will assume it is either a failure or damaged unit and request you open an RMA to determine if it is damage or failure.

At this point we are not sure.

1 hour ago we experience our brand new ws-12-250AC. Go down. Installed yesterday.

When I arrived on site all Poe lights were off and the power light was slowly flashing. What does that mean.! I tried a power unplug and plug back in but still the same power light flashing.

Unfortunately we have had to pull the switch and go back to Poe's . We have been down everyday this week due to a switch issue, even different switches but all from netonix.

Now the switch is on the bench and boots up fine WTF

How is the WS-12-250-AC powered?

What your describing is something that happens if your UPS is insufficient to handle the inrush current.

the WS-12-250-AC is powered by a 1000 watt APC UPS. Perhaps it's failing.

Possibly but to be honest a 1000w is pretty small for a 250 watt device.

I know that sounds funny but in-rush is many times more than the constant supply rating which is 250 watts but the power supply can supply surge watts much higher momentarily.

Personally I would want 1500 watt UPS minimum.

If it is undersized which I think 1000 watts is then the switch will tear it up over time, every time you power cycle the switch.

Does not matter if the switch is not fully loaded the 250 watts power supply inrush is still there.
