Not enough Power availiable error

Fri Nov 11, 2016 11:48 am

I have a WS-12-250-DC and when I try to add a Cambium PMP450i accesspoint on any additional port set to 48V it won't enable and says not enough power availaible in the log. I am already running two Airfibers on port 1 and 2. The device total is saying there is 135 watts running through it so it should only be half loaded. I have attached screenshots of the problem. Firmware on this unit is 1.3.8.

1) Update the firmware, v1.3.8 is VERY OLD FIRMWARE

2) The power supply is rated at 250 watts with input voltage above around 16V or so, once you drop below a certain input voltage your watts budget drops to 150 watts then when you get down close to 9 to 10V it drops to 100 watts.

I am on the road but I asked Eric or Dave to specify the actual cut offs for total watts available. There is also a post on here somewhere with a graph.

The switch is better with 24V or 48V battery banks, it will still work down to 9V but your capacity drops which is why on the power Tab you can specify which ports to keep up as your battery banks deplete.

Trying to get 250 watts of 50V from 13V or below is a crap load of amps and heat which is why it intelligently steps down the watts budget to keep things from catching fire.

Run a 24V battery bank if you need all 250 watts.

Today I converted the site to 24V and upgraded firmware and now the 450AP works on this switch. Thank you.
