Any idea on what time frame this issue will be dealt with? I have the same issue.

This may be a novel idea/concept but you could possibly read the release notes at the top of this thread and the first post in the thread where you download firmware?

We have a data base that tells us the date, board SN, power supply serial number, and who built , tested, and boxed the unit but this is not available to you (yet) sorry. Someday we plan to make a web portal you can get this info from.

But regardless of the switch being in period or not it is always worth repairing and the cost to repair is most often less than half of the cost of a new one and the way we repair them is put a new board in the chassis so it is basically a new unit.

Also the majority of units RMA'd are damaged not failure with visible damage to components on the board which is not covered under warranty.

Our RMA ratio is running about 1.5% and of that 1.5% 80%+/- are damaged units with obvious visible damage to the board which most times we send you pictures of the board and you get the old board returned with the repaired unit.

The most common damage being from ground current as the operator is not bonding electrical service ground to tower ground or say connecting 2 switches in 2 different locations on 2 different panels via copper creating a ground bond through the Ethernet Cables.

Then I would say water damage is second highest cause.

Then power supply failures which is covered under warranty unless they are blown up which has only been seen once or twice.

Now this recent defective CAP issues effecting the WS-6-MINI and WS-8-150-XX models is excluded from the above numbers and is covered under warranty as a free repair and we simply remove the CAPs and replace them and send back. Symptoms voltage fluctuations and in rare instances rebooting can occur. The percentage of the units afflicted with this is less than 1% and most units can be fixed by upgrading to the latest v1.4.5rcX firmware as we can correct the issue to a limited extend in software. This issues has been corrected on all units being built as of 9/7/2016

I just came up across of this post, I was reporting that few of minis I have do have the issue of voltage fluctuation and some couple of them reboot randomly in one of my posts where you insisted that it's because of damage to the switch. Does this mean that it turned out to be a real issue with the mini and I should go through RMA process ?

Yes, you should always RMA failed or damaged units.

It was through the RMA process that we discovered the defective CAPs on the WS-6-MINI and WS-8-150-XC units

Regardless if a unit is damaged or failure it is always best to RMA the unit as a unit that is damaged the repair fee is usually half the cost or less of a new unit.

We repair units at cost and sometimes even a small loss as a service which is nice because if you have a switch that is 3 years old we still repair it (so long as we still have parts).

The only problem is that I would have to ship it from EU and cost of shipping both ways > cost of "repair service". This is why someone from netonix suggest ed to purchase the "repair service" for these units and replace the board when shipped. We've discussed this here on forum with you where you mentioned that it must be grounding issue (even though we do have all units properly grounded to electrical power and these 3 minis where fluctuating straight out of the box, I even took one out of the box and it was fluctuating on my bench never being on a tower) which did not make much sense to me.

Now since I had 3 minis (out of about 10) showing fluctuating voltage (one reboots every coupe of hours under load, one was rebooting once ever couple of days and one still in production fluctuating but not rebooting) I purchased 2x "repair service" few days ago (already arrived) and I was about to purchase the 3rd "repair service" when I stumbled across the post above. To my surprise I loaded 1.4.6 on one of them (the one that was not rebooting which is still in production) and it helped the fluctuations. I already replaced boards on minis that were rebooting and installed them on towers..... so now if it turns out that in fact they were defective from the beginning which I suggested some time ago, and the firmware upgrade helps with them, I'm stuck with 2 "repair services" which I didn't really need.....

You are assuming these boards are from defective caps, we do not know until we look at them.

RMA the boards you replaced, if they are the defective CAPs then we will credit you back the the 2 boards (repair service you purchased) or repair the boards and ship them back for spares, your choice.

Yes I am assuming and I will ship them back to you on monday. I just loaded 1.4.6 on the one that was rebooting every hour or so before and plugged in 4 ubnt radios. Voltage seems more stable now and it's been about an hour now that it did not reboot:

Will leave it running till monday afternoon and ship it back to you then.

The one you are testing I would plug something into each port (does not need to be POE), but have all ports active for test to see if it reboots.
