Cold temps WS-8-250-DC Power Supply Board Temp 4 million deg
Re: Cold temps WS-8-250-DC Power Supply Board Temp 4 million
I left it unplugged for 10 seconds maybe, it was a high traffic site. I can try longer, I am heading out to one site now.

ya, that's not long enough for sure, the problem is when in hibernate mode, only a really low power micro is running, so it will take a while for the local
caps to discharge so the micro actually shuts down.
my guess is you will need to leave it un-powered for at least a couple of minutes.

I reverted to firmware 1.4.2 on one. When I check on it over an hour later, the temperature was back to normal and the fan was off. I upgraded the firmware back to 1.4.6 and the temperature is normal for the Power Supply Board Temp. Probably just an anomaly by reverting back. The other one is still acting up and I am heading there shortly. I will try unplugging for multiple minutes. If this doesn't work, I have a WS-8-150-DC to put in.

When I went to check on the 2nd unit, it was acting normally as well. No spiked temperature and the fan was off. So time seems to help this odd issue. The batteries should be sufficient to make it through the night so hopefully no repeat.

I'm seeing the same thing on one site, except I see high board and cpu Temps. The CPU temp bounced from 0 to 242 and back to what I think is the actual. It's currently -7f at that location.
Both stayed pegged at 242 and I rebooted the switch and the cpu started flapping back and forth.

Since Saturday afternoon, the units have been working as expected. No high temperatures sensed or cooling fan running that I have witnessed through the GUI. They have not entered hibernation since the solar has been keeping up. The extreme cold temperatures are also subsiding. I find it interesting that both units eventually got over their false 'fevers' and resumed normal operation without the power being unplugged for multiple minutes.
One site seems to be draining the battery quicker, but the battery capacity may be lacking due to the cold. So even running a generator and battery charger and the solar charging hasn't kept the charge above 12 V last night.

On another note about cold temps. I tend to see a lot of fan failure notices when things get cold. It appears the fan being cold takes longer than the software allows before generating the alert. You guys might think about tweaking the timers a little.

Cold temperatures are back and so are the crazy board temperatures. I replaced one WS-8-250-DC that had crazy perceived temperatures with a WS-8-150-DC and here is the screen shot.
