Have a 500' run total distance from house to CPE for a new client. CPE will be on 40' antenna tower out in a pasture.
What are you guys using to cable & provide power in a situation like this?

I use a WS-6-MINI midspan powered by PoE.

Thanks. Midspan would be in the middle of a horse riding area so an electronics box there is a no go. Thinking fiber/separate power may be the only way.

Just got off the phone with the client. Turns out they will be installing a fence for the riding arena about midspan.

In that case that could be a good place for a MINI. Might want to consider a future use for cameras or outdoor WiFi there as well.

I have a few mini's in stock too. If the midspanMini is at about 300', do you think a UBNT 48v AF POE provide enough power from the house side?

If your trying to save money you could try this:
Use GOOD CAT6 direct burial cable as I have gotten 500' 10/100 connection at 500'
I would first spool off 500' and test before I went and buried it.
Other Options:
Fiber and DC power and EdgePOINT 6

Mine is powered by a WS-24 and the AF PoE is actually 50V which is the same as what the Netonix puts out. I only see excessive voltage drop when the heaters kick in on the cams. It is just cosmetic (log entries) but if it bothered me enough I would power it with the 54V Ubiquiti PoE to compensate for the drop. The 24V side is not affected.
Probably you would never draw that much current.

We do stuff like this often enough. you can get 100Mbps on 500' of CAT5e pretty easily. Usually run 2 lines and dedicate 1 to power. Then I get these inexpensive 24v power supplies that can be tweaked up to about 27v which can account for some cable loss without overpowering the radio.
With a dedicated CAT5e for power, you'll be over 20v on the radio, if you just run it on the blue/brown pairs you'll be closer to 16v *but* the radio will fluctuate in draw enough that the volts will jump around a bit. Anything over 400' I'd typically run a landscape lighting wire, 16/2 is fine for a single radio.
I've got a 800' run on a fence and I'm using 14/2 and have a midspan mikrotik switch (260GS) that is pulling power off that 14/2. Get a full gig on both legs.
