So I was having Ethernet issues with a couple ports on my ws8-150-AC. Devices would negotiate up to Gbps and after a day or so they would drop down to 100Mbps.. I upgraded to 1.4.6 and it began rebooting every few minutes. Basically it would reply to pings for a few seconds and then it would reboot. The couple times I was able to get into it the first thing in the log was always (cold boot detected).
I brought the switch back to the shop, factory reset it, and powered up 6 radios with it. It was fine for several days in the lab. Today I changed the management VLAN to Tagged on all ports and added an untagged-VLAN for non-management traffic. I put the new management IP on the switch and saved. After a few short minutes the unit began to reboot again. Because it was on the bench I noticed that the ports were showing power, but they were not in fact powering up the radios.
At this point I'm not sure if I'm having a software or hardware issue. Ive included a video showing the odd behavior. PORT-8 is facing a Mikrotik router with a management vlan assigned to the port. "VLAN 101"
Any help would be appreciated.

I'd really love the chance to get this into the shop and do some digging, would you mind RMAing this switch?
the procedure to do so can be found here: http://forum.netonix.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1259

Re: ws8-a50-ac boot loop
Julian,
THanks for the reply. Update: I left it powered down for the evening. Today it powered right up without issue. In an effort to permanently remedy the issue I updated to the latest RC. It went through all the steps just fine, but the GUI never came back. After 20 minutes of waiting I power cycled it. It's now pretty much dead. No ethernet on any port, no lights except power and a red LED on Port5..
I would be happy to send this switch in, but fear it will be deemed a "firmaware issue", blamed on operator error, and not serviced under warranty. Is there anything else I should try at this point before pursuing an RMA?

We test the switch out and if we find a failure, defect, or even a user caused firmware corruption we fix free.
If we find DAMAGE we charge to fix it and for the return shipping.

Re: ws8-a50-ac boot loop
Thanks for the reply.
I rolled it back to 1.4.6 via SSH and it "knocks on wood" seems to be solid. If I can no longer re-produce the issue I'll assume that was the fix.
I'll keep you posted.
Thanks again.

Re: ws8-a50-ac boot loop
Well, at about 3 o-clock in the AM she went berserk again. I can ping it, ssh into it, but it's not passing traffic to the devices and I can't log into the GUI. reload cold from the CLI doesn't seem to do anything but kick me out of SSH.
I'm going to pick it up from the tower tonight and send it in..
Thanks for all the help.

Before you send it in, if your going to replace it with another identical spare switch wait and see if the spare does the same thing, if it does then maybe it is not hardware issue?
If you do send in please leave the config as is.
Just set the password to admin / admin and tell the IP address it is at
tape info to outside of switch.

Re: ws8-a50-ac boot loop
I put a new spare into the site shorty after my last post. Has been up ever since without issue. I'm sending the other one in.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: ws8-a50-ac boot loop
Hey all,
I have another WS-8 150 AC purchased in the same batch behaving similarly. This one goes into a state where Ethernet drops, POE lights remain illuminated, but power is not being supplied to devices. A reboot will bring it back to life for anywhere from 50 seconds to 90 minutes...
I have factory reset it and used in a simple config. Same issue.
Very odd.. Please advise.
