Using Tycon UPS with MINI switch?

We are looking for a better (DC) option for UPS for our mini-pop sites that use WS-6-MINI switches. Right now, it is backed up with AC powered APC UPS devices but that's not very efficient. We have been looking at Tycon UPS devices like the UPS-PL2448HP-9. However, it does not appear that the Tycon will do 4-pair 48V POE power. It can certainly power a DC switch since it does have binding post output but for the MINI switch, I don't see an option.

Tycon claims due to the short distance of the POE from the UPS to the MINI, 2 pair 48v will work. I don't see the specs for the Netonix allowing anything other than 4-pair 48v.

Any experience with Tycon and MINI switches? Or decent POE UPS's for a WS-6-MINI site? Most of these sites are only using 15 - 20 watts total of power (1 or 2 48v radios and the switch).

If you have binding posts for 48v, why not just put on a barrel adapter and power through the jack?

2 pair 48v isn't recommended for the ws-6, it might work in a low power and short range application like yours but you may be inducing gremlins, so to speak.

My thoughts exactly.

As for two pair power, it comes down to simple math. Four pairs can dissipate 50V x 1.5A = 75W so 2 pairs is 75W / 2 = 37.5W. The only unknown here is the in-rush current.

I mis-spoke. The Tycon has 24v available from binding post, not 48. I need the POE to supply data back to the hose house without having to run a second Ethernet wire. Trying to find a simple DC UPS solution with the MINI that also provides data back to the host house over the same POE wire. This is not going to be it. Perhaps sticking with a AF24 POE injector and an AC powered UPS is the solution - for now...
