New Models

Re: New Models
I'm surprised Chris didn't get to this yet, he's excited to launch these. Prototypes have already been made and tested, and the couple hardware bugs we found were nothing seriously impacting operations, but were corrected. A limited run should get built within the next few weeks. Full production is in the 6-8 week timeframe, supplier lead times being what they are.
It's early so I know I'm probably forgetting one, but from the top of my head:
WS-26-400-AC - The baseline for the new switch; 400w AC power supply, First 2 are 24vh capable, first 6 are 48VH ports, 18x regular 24/48v ports, 2 SFP ports. Chassis is roughly the same size as the WS-12-400-AC, I believe it's 5/8" wider and an inch or so deeper making it approximately 13" x 10", height is 1RU.
WS-26-500-DC - as above, with a 500w DC-DC converter intended to run off of 9-72VDC straight from the batteries. Chassis is a little deeper than the AC model, if dimensions interest you I will measure. - WILL NOT WORK ON NEGATIVE DC SITES
WS-26-400-IDC - as above, with a 400w Isolated DC power supply intended for -48V sites; Don't quote me, but operating range is negative 36-72V or so. Chassis is about the same size as the DC model. Can also be used on positive DC site as well.
WS-26-DC - Requires conditioned 48v input. Chassis dimensions roughly 1/2 the size of AC model, about 13" x 6.5" - Seriously tiny for a 24 port switch. - WILL NOT WORK ON NEGATIVE DC SITES
All of these use the same Vitesse switch core as our other switches, so non-blocking throughput is a key feature; POE pinouts will remain identical to our current models. Don't be shy if there's something else you'd like to know!

Re: New Models
At the end of 2017, you guys should be more faster.
Since vendors like ubnt and mikrotik are already working on it, their SFP+ switches are popular on the market. Even the OEM vendors like fs.com nowadays supply 10G enterprise switches.

UBNT is a 5 BILLION Dollar company now selling as much or more to the IT market than WISPs where 10G is a must.
Mikrotik is over 15 year old company worth at least $500 Million also selling to more than just the WISP market.
Netonix is less than 3 years old worth less than $10 Million concentrating on WISP market. Whereas there is "becoming" a need for SFP+ in WISPs it is not a HUGE WISP demand yet and we have limited resources.
We are working on it but it you have a MILLION dollars to spare we could rush something out I am sure.
We are in the design phase, it is coming.

Keep up the good work guys.
Are there any significant differences between the DC and IDC variants? Would there be any reason I wouldn't want to simply use the IDC everywhere? I'm just thinking about only having to keep one 24 port switch in stock opposed to two.
Also, is there an eta on the pre-order? I'll be picking up about a dozen of the new models.

WS-26-400-IDC - ISOLATED POWER SUPPLY
Input voltage range is 36V-72V - remember this is mainly designed for Telco power plants so no need to accept low input voltages
Does not monitor input voltage from batteries - remember this is mainly designed for Telco power plants so this is not an issue
The main purpose of this unit is to provide isolation because inexpensive radios like UBNT airMAX radios bond DC negative to earth ground so since they use positive DC power and the site had positive most likely bonded to the rait (tower) you would get smoke.
WS-26-500-DC - NON ISOLATED POWER SUPPLY DO NOT USE AT NEGATIVE DC SITES
Input voltage range is 9V-72V <= THE ABILITY TO USE DOWN TO 9V DC IS IMPORT TO MOST WISPS
Monitors input voltage from batteries <= THIS IS IMPORTANT TO MOST WISPS WHICH IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE WS-26-400-IDC
The main purpose of this unit is positive DC sites with the ability to completely drain the batteries in emergencies
Also, is there an eta on the pre-order? I'll be picking up about a dozen of the new models.
A "limited" "small" release of each model is very soon.
Production stock level is 6+/- weeks away

Thanks for the info. I read the 36-72V, but it didn't register until after I replied.

Re: New Models
Who would like to buy pre-releases of these models:
WS-26-DC
WS-26-400-IDC
WS-26-400-AC
I have limited numbers of above units.
The WS-26-500-DC is not yet available to buy, maybe in a week or so.
