Not trying to be a douche here but is there a manual, list of commands, screen description or some such document or forum post around?
Im specifically looking for some info on the watchdog tab.
We want to be able to have the switch ping us with an email if a PTP link goes down. So i thought if i put an IP and a port in the nice little watchdog screen this would work. But now I'm thinking it might reset the port, or power cycle it. So I just don"t know what its supposed to do. With a nice little cheat sheet I would be all set.
Yes, I have watched the video, Studied the video! But its way old and some of the features I'm using weren't on those old firmware versions.
Thanks for listening...any help is appreciated.

Re: User Manual, or some hints....
I would think that it would be simple to figure out?
We put a lot of effort into making the UI as "simple" as possible.
Keep in mind you need to have the SMTP service setup properly on the Device/Configuration Tab for the switch to send messages.
Below is how I would do it, I would not select a port because all I want is a message if the ping fails.
No manual needed if you simply think about it?

Re: User Manual, or some hints....
Typically it shuts the port down and alerts via email, if snmp settings are provided.
If you run into questions, that's what we maintain these forums for- do a quick search, and if you have no joy, just start a topic and ask, we're occasionally a little snarky, but we always get people the information they're asking for.
The way I learned to use these, was just sat down and tried stuff. There might be some gaps in my understanding, but if I run into anything sticky, I just come here.
Thanks,
Julian

Re: User Manual, or some hints....
Thanks for the input.
FYI, were a WISP with about 10 of your switches in production, three at tower sites. Were not novices here (?) but on occasion something like this just falls through the cracks, and no, i didn't have a ? because were still on 1.4.4 firmware everywhere. Planning to do 1.4.7 at our next upgrade interval.
I'm real hesitant to try something like this not knowing if it will actually shut off a port when the error occurs. last thing I want is a port to shut down un-necessarily, especially on a 100mb PTP circuit.
So just to summarize, the watchdog WILL power down a port, and we can either have notification or not.
If no port is selected, just an IP, then no port will be bounced.
Do i got it?
Thanks again.

Re: User Manual, or some hints....
Correct but I would be running v1.4.7rc18 now.
The difference between 1.4.6 and v1.4.7rc18 is that v1.4.7rc18 has all the bug reported fixed since the release of v1.4.6
If we released v1.4.7 tomorrow and the next day a bug was reported we would release v1.4.8rc1.
The v1.4.4 you are running also has security holes that are fixed in v1.4.7rc18

Re: User Manual, or some hints....
Again, my short-hand. Yes, we intend to use 1.4.7rc18.
I installed it last night on one of our MDU switches with no issues.
Thanks again for the help.
