Netonix XC issues
Netonix XC issues
I have 2 WS-12-250-AC cross connected at one of our sites. The first switch that is our primary cross connects from one of the SFP port to the other switch in Port 2 and no connection, we move the connection to port 1 and we get connection. I have checked the logs and seen no indication of any issues on the ports, just wondering if this is a weird quirk of netonix or if there is any advice from anyone that has ran into this issue.

Re: Netonix XC issues
So you are saying one of the SFP slots may be defective or damaged?
So you are saying that if you plug the same SFP module in one SFP port it works and if you plug the "same" SFP module in the other SFP port it does not work?
Make sure that SFP port is in a VLAN definition because if a port is not in a VLAN definition the port is disabled.

Re: Netonix XC issues
sorry for not being more clear the sfp ports are fine, the problem is on the second switch. The second ethernet port on the second switch cross connected to the first switch does not allow pass of traffic and doesn't ping, however if we plug into the first ethernet port the switch passes traffic and is pinging.

Re: Netonix XC issues
So you have 2 switches and you have 2 cables running between them?
Please post up screen grabs of the following TABs of both switches:
Status
Ports
VLANs
LAG
STP

Re: Netonix XC issues
No this is not a quirk of our switches and I can not duplicate your issue in our lab.
Are you running v1.4.7 or v1.4.8rc2 or some old out of date firmware?
Possibly an incompatible or bad SFP module?
I have come across some modules that require the SFP module to be ejected then reinserted and they work but as soon as you do a firmware upgrade or soft reboot you need to eject them and re-insert them.

Re: Netonix XC issues
found the issue, our second switch that we deployed had been used for learning and had a jumble of vlans on it. so my bad sorry to waste your time.

Re: Netonix XC issues
make sure port 2 is on your management vlan (which is always the top line on the vlan tab, no matter what the number is), otherwise it won't respond to the management IP.
Edit: man, guessed right from the couch, I'm good. glad you're sorted out, though.

Re: Netonix XC issues
A simple advice, use untag on management VLAN between swtich. You loose the possibility to use 802.1p for QoS on management VLAN but you never have vlan mismatch, no matter what you do.
