WS-12-250-DC Issues

Fri Jun 23, 2017 12:31 pm

Hello,

We have been using the WS-12-250-DC switches for about 18 months. We have had very few issues until the last two months. I have received separate report from two of my lead techs that when they reboot the switch it will burnout one of the POE ports it is currently using. When they program a new port the device will power-up and work fine. At this point I have at least 5 WS-12-250-DC in the field with dead ports.

Today I also took screenshot of the following bug.

Please let me know what additional information your require.

Thanks,

Dan

Well it is possible they are failing but if one right after the other is failing I would investigate your site. As there are thousands of these units in service working fine it is not a design flaw or people would want my head.

I would RMA the units and have us look at them: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1259#p9343

Maybe describe your site here and what your grounding is in detail.

Also are you using Ethernet surge protectors because is you are that is probably your problem. You can not use EThernet Surge Suppressor with "passive" POE switches, any "passive" POE switch. This has been discussed on this forum, UBNT forums, and on the Facebook WISP groups.

Ethernet surge protectors work by clamping all 8 wires together which creates a DEAD SHORT - POOF
Support is handled on the Forums not in Emails and PMs.
