Hi All,
We want to use an IP address of 10.20.30.99 on VLAN 2030 instead of 192.168.1.x on VLAN 1 to manage the switch.
And we don't want an IP address on VLAN 1.
How do we achieve that?

Re: Making an IP address on a different VLAN
Move vlan 2030 to the top of the vlan list, which makes it the management vlan. Then set the IP under configuration.

Re: Making an IP address on a different VLAN
Change VLAN 1 VID for VID 2030. You can't change the management VLAN but you can change the ID of it. The management VLAN will always be at top. After, you edit the management IP address via the device configuration tab, not via the VLAN one like for other VLAN. IP addresse on VLAN are for ping watchdog and diagnostic purpose, not routing.

Hi,
So we tried this and it didn't work the IP address VLAN 1.

Re: Making an IP address on a different VLAN
I read the explaination again and it seem clair. Maybe try the 1.5 hour video made by Chris (Sirhc) to explain how to use the product.

Hi All, Thanks for the info, so this is the information we collected so we will put it all in one place.
We were trying to solve, how to have a different tagged vlan as the management vlan for the Netonix.
Important Point: (Might be a newby point) You can configure things on multiple pages, and then hit save/apply.
For my example we are picking VLAN 10, Tagged, with an IP address of 172.16.10.20 and a default gateway of 172.16.10.254
1. Make sure your PC can route on both the current 192.168.1.x network and the new tagged network.
2. Make sure you can trunk over to the new VLAN, from the other switch / device
2. Go to the VLAN page
3. Make the top VLAN then Management VLAN you want to use.
4. Enter the VLAN (for example 10) and switch the port on the trunk from U to T
5. DO NOT HIT SAVE / APPLY
6. Go to the IP Configuration page.
7. Enter the IP (for example 172.16.10.20)
8. Enter the default gateway 172.16.10.254
9. Hit Save/Apply
10. If the routing worked, it should go to the VLAN and log in.
11. You of course have to login and hit save.
We set the Revert via the console to 500 seconds while we doing this via the CLI -- set revert time 500 so that we had time to try and ping and test things.

Sometime during this config the switch quit and went into Segmentation Fault and we had to reset it...
