1.4.2 Board Rev C
Started to get "3V is out of Range (3.5V)" in the Log
The Power for 48V and 24V are both solid Red on the status Page. There are just two mimosa B5c's powered off of this switch
Dead switch ?

Dead A/D converter, most likely.
I don't know if I would make pulling it out of service a priority, the switch will operate fine with a bad ADC - some monitoring functions will be adversely impacted, but overall operation shouldn't be affected.
When you do pull it out, though, by all means, go ahead and RMA, I will be happy to get that fixed for you.

Re: WS-12-250 Power is Redlined and 3 Volt warning the log
Thanks for the prompt reply. Would there be a specific reason for this ? The switch has only been in the field for 12 months or so. I have some going on 3 or 4 years now with no problem.
The shack, tower, radios, rack, switch and router chassis are all bonded to a halo ground.
Anything I can do to avoid this in the future ?
Thx,
S

Re: WS-12-250 Power is Redlined and 3 Volt warning the log
There is no way for us to tell what the cause is until we tear it down.
It could be a part failure or it could be damaged. Most damage is from ground current which is caused by not bonding Electrical service ground rods to tower ground rods in this case the halo system. Not all ground rods have the same potential and if they are not bonded ground current will flow between the 2 ground potentials through your Ethernet cables (devices).
I have often found that Electrical service ground rods are insufficient from corrosion or because they were not properly driven at least 18" into virgin clay. Any time I take damage from potential ground current I inspect the Electrical service grounds and often add a NEW additional ground rod and bond to the existing ground rods and my problem goes away.
People need to understand that GROUND IS NOT GROUND and differnt grounding systems have different potentials and this will cause damage to equipment.
90%+ of all WISP equipment damage is related to ground current.

Thanks Chris
I'll get the techs to check the site and see if we are deficient. It is on top of a 'mountain' so clay is pretty rare. Rock is plentiful. IIRC there are 8 rods in the halo which is bonded to the electrical service as well as the shack and tower at two points each.

Well so long as ALL grounding systems are bonded that it good.
As I said it "could" be a failure or damage which we will be able to tell you when we look at it.
