So I purchased a WS-12-250-DC switch which for the most part I am happy with. . However I discovered after installing that I am on an old firmware. unfortunately this sits on top of a mountain that is not easily accessible. I am currently on firmware 1.4.2. I want to make sure before I remotely upgrade this firmware that I am upgrading the right firmware the one I am downloading is from here viewtopic.php?f=17&t=240 and is version 1.4.8RCX. is this the correct firmware for my switch? I do not see any other firmware and just want to make sure.
I have seen problems with this switch where I have 100% CPU usage and also have gotten many errors like this
Sep 30 22:58:22 Port: link state changed to 'up' (1G) on port 2 Sep 30 22:58:22 STP: set port 2 to discarding Sep 30 22:58:22 STP: set port 2 to learning Sep 30 22:58:22 STP: set port 2 to forwarding Sep 30 22:58:28 Port: link state changed to 'down' on port 2 Sep 30 22:58:28 STP: set port 2 to discarding Sep 30 22:58:30 Port: link state changed to 'up' (1G) on port 2 Sep 30 22:58:30 STP: set port 2 to discarding Sep 30 22:58:31 STP: set port 2 to learning Sep 30 22:58:31 STP: set port 2 to forwarding Sep 30 22:59:00 Port: link state changed to 'down' on port 2 Sep 30 22:59:00 STP: set port 2 to discarding Sep 30 23:00:29 Port: link state changed to 'up' (100M-F) on port 2 Sep 30 23:00:29 STP: set port 2 to discarding Sep 30 23:00:29 Port: link state changed to 'down' on port 2 Sep 30 23:01:04 Port: link state changed to 'up' (100M-F) on port 2 Sep 30 23:01:04 STP: set port 2 to discarding Sep 30 23:01:04 STP: set port 2 to learning Sep 30 23:01:04 STP: set port 2 to forwarding Sep 30 23:01:08 Port: link state changed to 'down' on port 2 Sep 30 23:01:08 STP: set port 2 to discarding Oct 1 01:13:40 Port: link state changed to 'up' (1G) on port 2 Oct 1 01:13:40 STP: set port 2 to discarding Oct 1 01:13:40 STP: set port 2 to learning Oct 1 01:13:40 STP: set port 2 to forwarding Oct 1 01:13:40 switch[3405]: !unexpected link change on port 2 100M-F Oct 1 01:13:43
I am hoping the firmware upgrade will resolve some of this. I shut off the RSTP on the port that was having the issue and have not seen the error since then. this is my primary back-haul from the mountain to our internet service provider. I am not worried about having RSTP off since this is technical a trunk link between 2 switches.
[i]am alos seeing alot of Receive Errors

I have tested the cable and different ports but no change. the device that is connected to this port is an airfiber 5x. and the cables look fine on the airfiber itself as well

Re: Netonix FIrmware upgrade
Yes 1 firmware for all switches.
Yes there was a piece of paper lying on top of the switch when you unpacked it that told you to upgrade the firmware before using the switch.
READ THIS POST:
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2700&p=18792&hilit=+paper+upgrade+firmware#p18792
We have to provide firmware images to chip maker MONTHS in advance to have it pre flashed on the chip.
Then these chips can sit in a warehouse for months until we assemble boards
Then until we assemble, test, and box more months can go by.
This is why we put that piece of paper on top of the switch you have to move out of the way to get the switch out of the box to WARN people that the first thing they should do is upgrade the firmware before using the switch.
I would read the release notes from v1.4.2 which is almost a year old all the way up to v1.4.8rc11 paying any attention to issues with passwords then upgrade to v1.4.8rc11
You can go straight from v1.4.2 to v1.4.8rc11 but note any warnings in the release notes to passwords.
