I want to start this thread so people can report which SFP modules work and do not work with the WISP Switch.
Please specify the SFP manufacturer and model number and share if it works or does not work.
Keep in mind reports of some SFP modules early in the thread were fixed by firmware patches reported to work further down in the thread.
I do suggest when using an SFP module to fully put it through the paces before putting in service.
Insert SFP and get a link.
Do a warm reboot in the UI/CLI (same as a firmware upgrade reboot) make sure the link comes back up.
Do a cold boot (power cycle) and make sure the link come back up.
If it fails try setting port speed to both Auto and then 1G and see which works better with that module.
If it still fails try another SFP module, maybe same brand and then another brand and test again.

Re: Compatible SFP Modules
We are starved for ports on one of our WISP Switches. Rather than fiber, we were looking at adding copper SFPs to get us two additional ports. It sounds from your description that this is an issue limited to optical SFPs. Should I assume that any copper SFP is safe? Anyone have any specific models they have used before I go out and place an order for a couple?

Re: Compatible SFP Modules
I have yet to have any problems with copper nor have I heard of anyone else - YET?

Re: Compatible SFP Modules
Just a quick note to anyone looking at Cisco compat sfp modules. Quite a few modules that have DDM or DOM are labeled with a D as the last letter of their model. There are some exceptions to that rule, but you can check against this list:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/OL_8031.htmlWhile the Cisco documentation may not always be 100% from my experience, I would consider that list a good resource if you are trying to avoid DOM / DDM. Also that list contains many modules that I'm sure we don't support (10Gig for example) so please keep in mind that I am not saying we support everything or even most of the modules listed. But if you have a gigabit sfp in mind that is cisco compat, you can check the list to ensure it does not have DOM capabilities.

Mikrotik S+DA0003 'SFP Connect'
This is sold as 'MikroTik SFP+ Direct Attach Cable - 3M' - for example: https://www.msdist.co.uk/product_MikroT ... ble-3M.php
Its basically a hardwired copper 10gig SFP+ module, which also works in an SFP cage. I've got one plugged into my WISP router (250B), and the other end in a Mikrotik 260 switch. Both ends report the link as live, active, etc. Both ends appear to push data, the wisp switch is apparently not receiving any data.
However, I can't 'ping' the other device (from either device).
EG.
Wisp Switch - IP address 10.100.11.2
Mikrotik Switch - IP address 10.100.11.3
No VLAN setup, etc, all ports forward to all ports.
And yet ping doesn't work between them (either from the Wisp switch web management page, or from a device plugged into ether switch).
Am I doing something particularly stupid? WISP switch firmware is 1.0.9 and Mikrotik is 1.14 (latest). Both got pulled out of boxes two hours ago.
Any help gratefully received,

Re: Compatible SFP Modules
The wisp switch doesn't support SFP+ (10Gb)

Re: Compatible SFP Modules
I bought some Mikrotik RJ45 SFP copper module's that do 10/100/1000 with auto negotiation (S-RJ01) and they work fine in the WISP Switch. Just FYI.

Using Telecoast/GLC-BX-D-20-TC SFP, working no problem.
