New root on port -11

I'm seeing a bunch of entries in the log referring to negative port numbers such as the one shown below:

What exactly is "port -11" referring to? These logs are being generated on a WS-6-MINI running v1.4.8rc12 but it has been happening since at least v1.4.8rc7

Sure, below is the full log from another switch. (I realize the log below is from a switch running 1.4.8rc7 but unfortunately I cleared the log on the switch running rc12 right after my previous post. The important point though is that rc12 is behaving exactly the same way.)

The reason for all the learning, forwarding, discarding messages on the 20th & 21st is because someone plugged in a cable they shouldn't have and caused a bridging loop. But you'll notice that there are those negative port references periodically on days prior as well. I'm curious if that's a bug or if it's communicating something I simply don't understand how to interpret.
