OK, the first thing I would recommend is updating to v1.4.8rc12 because there is a serious BUG fixed for SMART DC models. This is not the cause of your email issue but it is a serious bug in v1.4.7.

v1.4.7 - This version has known bugs - USE VERSION v1.4.8rcX
DO NOT USE THIS VERSION WITH SMART DC MODELS USE v1.4.8rcX below.

v1.4.8rcX wrote:FIXED/CHANGED
- Fixed input voltage reading on SMART DC models that may cause false ;pw input reading if voltage momentarily drop - RC12
- Fixed Changed temp sensor readings on SMART DC models to effect fan speeds - RC2
- Fixed SNMP support for Q-SWITCH-MIB, LLDP and CDP - RC7
- Fixed IGMP snooping with multiple VLANs - RC9
- Fixed DC calibration restarting POE - RC10
- Fixed problem with DHCP snooping affecting fragmented UDP packets - RC10
- Fixed problem with ERPS enabling forwarding a failed port - RC10
- Fixed problem with MSTP setting priority and path cost - RC10
- Fixed SSH login with RADIUS when the password contains special characters - RC11
- Fixed scheduled port bounce - RC11
- Fixed VLAN drag/drop being too sensitive - RC12
- Grey out unavailable bulk poe options - RC3
- Upper out of voltage range for IDC is now 54V - RC4

ENHANCEMENTS
- Added ERPS protocol implementation is g.8032v2 - Ring Protection - RC1
- Added BETA note to ERPS - RC3
- Added port name to "show interface status" CLI command - RC3
- Added an input voltage calibration for DC models - RC4
- Improved Q-BRIDGE-MIB support - RC5
- Improved fan control on DC models - RC6
- Improved stability of ERPS- RC6
- Added "Enable Power" action to watchdog - RC8
- Added ifMtu to IF-MIB - RC10
- Added dot3StatsDuplexStatus from EtherLike-MIB - RC10
- Added the time counters were cleared to port detail - RC10
- Added watchdog description to email notification - RC10
- Added terminal length option to CLI - RC10
- Added ability to re-order VLANs using drag and drop - RC10
- Enabled IGMP proxy for IGMP snooping - RC11
- Added "show igmp" CLI command - RC11

Now on to the email issue:
The switch is located on an invalid IP 17.16.8.66
The mail server is located at a valid IP address

Now this is not a problem provided this is all within your network and your routing 172.16.X.X throughout your network but I do not know your network.

So first things first things first have you verified your switch can ping the SMTP server?

Your SMTP settings look correct except you do not have the SECURE connection checked which I have to have checked for my mail server? Most email servers will require this box checked.

There is a TEST button for the SMTP service have you tested it and verified you receive your test email?

If you're not getting your TEST email then you need to investigate why.

Chris, please READ my posts, i love your product, but your ignoring me and what im typing, the fact I have posted a few times already that I GET EMAILS FOR EVERYTHING EXCEPT 1G to DOWN, DOWN TO 1G. Im not sure how much more clear I can say this?

I get emails from this netonix for:
Watchdog alerts
Voltage alerts
1G to 100 alerts
100 to 10 alerts
10 to 100 alerts
1G to 10 alerts
the list goes on... all alerts seem to work fine... EXCEPT..
I dont seem to get 1G to DOWN, or DOWN to 1G as it happens so fast, I pasted a snippet from the log in a previous post showing the UP/DOWN.

I am going to have to refer this to Eric.

Only thing I can think of is the link change is happening so fast the switch is ignoring the change?

There are no notifications for link state changes, only unexpected link speed changes. It does say "Link Change" in the notification configuration, I guess that could be worded more accurately.

So if a link was flapping for 2 days (like mine was) your saying it wont send out an email because its not unexpected? can this be coded so that it emails for all link changes and not just unexpected ones, as we didnt notice this was a fault until it went offline completely, the issue was water in the port and it was shorting, radio stayed powered up but water was on a data pair so it was going from 1G to DOWN and back to 1G.

BTW, I counted all my netonixs today and i have 84 with more being added every week, id hope that gives me some weight to get some dev work to make sure that link state changes for everything are emailed.

If it had emailed us for each one we would have got dozens of them and known it was a fault we needed to fix ASAP, most likely within half an hour, and not 2 days.

We appreciate your support.

Let me also apologize for not looking closely at your log in your post to see it was link up and down instead of link speed changing.

So here is the rub. We can assume it is an unexpected link speed change when it goes from 1G/100M to 100M/10M.

I will ping Eric to see if we can also report link up and down events.

This is really a job for an NMS, especially if you have that many switches.
