Hello Forum,
I have a remote and hard to reach Netnonix WS-12-250 DC that has become unresponsive after saving/applying its time settings. I have one Sierra RV50 modem that is powered by the switch's POE that I can connect to using the modem's static IP. I'm curious if there is someway to power cycle the Switch using the RV50 or if there is some other integrated software on the Switch proper that might eventually reboot the device. Making a physical trip to the switch at this moment would be very expensive and a last resort.
Thanks again,
AMK

Sorry, no hidden way to talk to switch.
HTTP/HTTPS or Telnet/SSH or Console

Is there a guide on how to test that? I have only tried it's IP in a browser window (and ping IP).
Thanks

You use a program like PUTTY and use SSH connection to the IP address of the switch.
Can you even ping the switch IP?

Re: Alternate ways to connect to remote Netonix Switch
I cannot ping the switch.
This symptom started when I enabled NTP, which I had disabled two days ago during a previous trouble shooting process. This switch was set to power down ports based on voltage and time of day. Do you think it's possible it may be powering all the POE ports and not running the power saving criteria? If that's the case, a site visit will be higher on the list.
Have you ever seen a Netonix switch brick on network but power all the POE ports? I ran a UBNT Discovery from another radio and don't see any other device up there so that sort of leads me to think the switch isn't POEing.
Thanks again,
AK

Re: Alternate ways to connect to remote Netonix Switch
I have no idea?
I hope you were running v1.4.9 or at least v1.4.8 as there were warnings about upgrading SMART DC switches to v1.4.8 in the release notes.
You could have a power issue?
You could have damage at the site?
You could have a failed unit?
Or none of the above and something else?
Could be many different issues

Re: Alternate ways to connect to remote Netonix Switch
Okay right. Guessing games are always fun.
The switch actually just woke up and I'm back in. It's running 1.4.8rc12. While it was down I updated our other one to the 1.4.9 (because it's easy to drive to). I'm very tempted to update the remote switch too, but also hesitant as if it doesn't come back up, I'm gonna bork myself.

Your call, but if you feel better scheduled a visit as soon as possible and upgrade on site.
