Hi,
I may just be missing something obvious but does anyone have any information about how to setup ERPS.
I'm guessing I just have to be on the most current available version.
A setup guide would be much appreciated if anyone has one.
Thanks

Re: ERPS Setup
I personally do not use ERPS and do not know enough to help you but we follow the industry standards so there is plenty of information on the web on every single protocol we implement on our switches.
Since ERPS was not built into our switch core like STP/RSTP/MSTP we [Eric] had to write that code but he followed the standard as laid out by G.8032 which is why we tell people to use at own risk as it is still under development.
Several people on the forums have said it works for them but we are not ready to commit that it is solid.
As far as setting it up or using it we do not write the standards such as the following:
STP IEEE 802.1D https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanning_Tree_Protocol
RSTP IEEE 802.1W https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanning_Tree_Protocol
MSTP IEEE 802.1S https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiple_ ... e_Protocol
ERPS ITU-T under G.8032 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethernet_ ... _Switching
We do not write documents to teach people how to use or setup industry standard protocols as there are plenty of material already on the web to learn how to use these protocols.
There are many videos of sample/tutorial setups on YouTube of ERPS
NOTE: there is a [?] on the ERPS TAB with some help on fields

Re: ERPS Setup
But to initially get it on my Netonix switch, I just need to update to 1.4.8?

Use v1.4.9 NOT v1.4.8 as v1.4.9 had fixes for ERPS that were reported bugs.
But we still WARN people it is being actively developed.
Our programmer Eric is on vacation in Australia until the end of the month.
We hired a new programmer Stephen but he is months away from being up to speed on our firmware.

Re: ERPS Setup
ERPS is still broken. The MEP is suppose to connect and monitor an other MEP but, on current implementation, it connect to the switch MAC instead and ring will go in pending mode, and wait the idle time out, every time any port of the remote switch is unplug to listen and check ring state. I already reported it to Eric.
Also, if I remeber well, their still the bug with ERPS blocking access to managment VLAN if management VLAN is part of the ring. Once Eric fix those, I will probably make an exemple on the forum but maybe a community wiki would be best instead of always searching the forum.

Re: ERPS Setup
The above issue's mike99 mentioned should be fixed.
If you want to use it then test it out in the lab first. I don't know if there are any other issue's with it because there hasn't been enough people using it.

Re: ERPS Setup
I will test it more eventually but must first finish my fiber backbone. Once done, I will test the extended wireless network with ERPS.
