Can we get an update to this? You're obviously a few weeks behind schedule (which is cool, holidays and all!) but Management VLANs are the difference between deploying the two units I have and them collecting dust at the moment. I have a desperate need to use them as EdgeSwitches are too damned expensive, complicated, buggy and slow (in the interface, not in operation) and I would greatly like to be able to deploy my 12-250B :) .

So a Firmware roadmap update would get good when you get the chance Chris!

Eric has v1.1.0 and v1.2.0 done I think, Rory has just not had time to test them yet.

Obviously we will just release v1.2.0 since it includes v1.1.0

We wanted to also add "Allow all VLANs" or allow a configuration where you can specify VLAN tags allowed to traverse and not get Un-tagged on egress.

I have been busy building switches and Rory (the guy that tests the firmware) has been busy working for my WISP, I plan to get him on this tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay but yea the holidays boned us, then my kid was in the hospital.....just a MESS but Eric has been working away up there in the frozen wasteland of Canada.

But on a GOOD note we will have a limited production run of the WS-8-250A released in about 10 days (waiting on stickers and white boxes).

I heard Dave say the DC power plant for the WS-8-DC is up and running! :hurray:

But the I2C communications between the power supply and the switch has not been tested nor has the software been finished. :ak:

But the 8 port AC and DC chassis, stickers, boxes and such are all in the works! Pirate2

Re: Setting Management Vlan?

I thought I found a 'hack' to get a management VLAN to work, but I'm not having any luck.

I used the following VLAN configuration, and did a jumper from port 11 to 12:
1 Management - Excluded 1-10, Untagged 11, Excluded 12-14
72 Real Management - Tagged 1-10, Excluded 11, Tagged 12

I thought a jumper cable from port 11 to 12 would work, as all traffic can come and go on the other ports, and Management would only be accessible from port 11, but it doesn't.
I deliver management and service to clients on VLANs, so excluding VLAN 1 isn't a problem for me - yeah, I'm bummed about losing two ports but I don't need them right off the bat. I can't understand why this isn't working for me.
Any ideas? Is the switch just killing the ports because it's connected to itself?

I've also tried untagged port 12 (vlan 72) and tagged port 11 (vlan 1), both untagged... Nada.
Here I thought I was being clever!

We are soon releasing a version that allows the following VLAN options
Renumber/name Default/Management VLAN
Add IP to each VLAN
Port Trunking or a better description would be to configured allow VLANs

Also
Port isolation
Some fan logic fixes that was causing false fan failure alerts
Login Tar Pit (configurable)
Access list to CLI/UI/SNMP
Allow configuration for LAG groups as far as how the aggregation is done.

Slightly unrelated - but can you also "auto-enable" the VLAN when you make it?
I've already a dozen times made a new vlan, did all the appropriate tagging/untagging/excluding and forgot to click the "enable" box :(

I do not know man that is a MAJOR re-write of the entire firmware, might take a while! :screwb:

But I will see what I can do about getting it in the next release if you can get at least 5 people to like this post indicating this is the way they would prefer it to be!

Here shows the re-number and re-name of default VLAN

It also shows you can assign a separate IP for each VLAN

Yet to finish what you guys call "trunking" - Monday maybe

Also isolated ports is coming.

Chris:

Awesome.
These switches will serve a great purpose for me. When management VLAN is fixed up, I'm going to let the one I have "soak" for a bit to make sure it's stable, and then I will be using them left right and center for nearly all my towers. I've been waiting a long time for these things and now that they're here I'm super pumped. Thanks for all your hard work!
