Hmmm,

Seeing a lot of packet error's on port 1.

Try disabling Pause Frames and see if that stops.

If that doesn't do it, then also try disabling Loop Protection to see if there is any improvement.

Ya those errors have always been happening. I have 6 x AF24's on 6 different Netonix and they all do that. I've never been able to figure out why and I've read on the UBNT forums that it's not uncommon.

That is not the port I am pinging the Switch through from the attached router. That is not the cause of the packet loss which started when I upgraded this switch from 1.4.7 to 1.5.0 to 1.5.1 to 1.5.RCx

I'll try disabling those and see if it makes a difference. Thanks.

No luck. Might even be a little worse with them turned off.

Still errors on the AF24 port too - but that really isn't my primary concern. I'd like to have a plan to deal with this packet loss problem...

Is it possible to go back to 1.4.7 ? Or any other options ?

There are still a few options.

What's happening is vtss_appl is crashing for some reason. We need to know why.

If possible on your network setup, try disabling STP and see if that helps.

There is no difference between v1.4.7 and v1.5.X that would affect packet loss.

Look I run a LOT of Netonix switches and almost all UBNT gear including AF24 and I am not seeing this. I also know what the changes are between all the firmware.

I am running a lot of differnt firmware from v1.4.9 to v1.5.2rcX latest.

Packet loss causes:
Noise on the wire - can also be from ground current that cause packet issues.

Bad wire or crimped end or connector not seated properly.

Bad/Damaged port in switch, switch cable to a differnt switch port and see if packet loss issues follows.

Bad/Damaged port in AF24 - I have seen this at my WISP - Swapped out AF24 and problem went away. Was a damaged / defective Ethernet Transformer and or PHY in the AF24. Since we know how to repair AF24 and have both parts in our shop I repaired the AF24 unit.

STP was already disabled. I tried enabling early this AM with RSTP to see if that made a difference but no joy so I turned it off again.

I don't have QOS setup, no Lags, no ERPS, no watchdogs and nothing on the Power tab. I only have about 20 VLANs on it.

It just stopped responding for about 30 seconds and all the PPPOE sessions on the router dropped. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Since you have VLANs on your setup, maybe you need to increase the MTU size?

I'm not doing Q-in-Q though.... and changing MTU is scarier than thinking about rolling back a version.

Is it possible to roll back ? Even if I had to default it and roll back and then reload the config that'd be preferable to dropping PPPOE and OSPF pitching a fit.

BTW I turned off SMTP, SNMP and NTP and the problem is still happening

If you want to rollback. Again be CAREFUL I'm not sure that it is possible to go back all the way to 1.4.7. Maybe 1.4.9

At the very least definitely back up your config and default the switch first, but set it back up manually after rolling back. Going that far back I'm fairly certain that the config will not be compatible.

Keep the config just in case you go back to the latest. Then you should just be able to apply and save some time.
