Misbehaving WS-12-250-DC

Sat May 11, 2019 9:04 am

Had this switch in a production at a remote repeater site for 6 months, one afternoon i get dispatched to the site due to lack of ip connectivity, the switch power light was off, after troubleshooting power and cycling the breaker that feeds the switch it booted back up. but woldnt light up any ethernet ports. and looking at the console port i kept seeing "random" <BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck > .. fortunately i had a spare switch, so i swapped that in and got the site up and running, but now i have the switch on the bench, and on a whim i went through the firmware recovery procedure. and all went well untill the reboot after the write redboot.

Code: Select all
root@OpenWrt:/tmp# ./mtd -q write redboot_config "RedBoot config"
root@OpenWrt:/tmp#

Am i dealing with a dead switch? Im pretty certian it is out of warranty by now.

Thoughts? Ideas? Sugestions?

If firmware recovery did not work but the switch is operational then I would RMA the unit.
Flashing it with our equipment may repair it then your looking at $50+ (+ shipping)
Even if it required a NEW board the cost is $175.00+ shipping
