WS-26-500-DC rebooting

Tue May 28, 2019 11:27 am

Hello,

We are experiencing seemingly random reboots on one of our WS-26-500-DC switches. I was told this specific model had a short problem for a while. Could this problem potentially be caused by this?

We had 2 reboots about two weeks ago, roughly 2 hours apart, About a day after deployment. We upgraded FW to 1.5.2 and all seemed well. Then last night we experienced another reboot. This happened at roughly midnight. Our peak traffic is around 1.2Gbps. Traffic began declining normally, and at time of reboot was about 1Gbps

Mac Address: ec:13:b2:06:16:3e
FW: 1.5.2
Board Rev: B
Power Supply Firmware Version: 70

Power Supply Board Rev: A

This switch as at a remote tower location. Average power output is around 250W.

Any more information that could be useful I'm happy to provide, thank you for your help.

How are you powering the unit?

Explain in detail how your powering it, a wiring diagram would be nice?

It comes off an NDR-480-24. We had a 12 port NTNX SW here, and just upgraded it to the 26, no power load change. Not sure how it could be a power issue. We have quite a few sites (20ish) set up the same as this site and no problems anywhere else.

The Issue I mentioned before was specifically with wires not being zip tied inside the SW. Is this unit definitely not part of the affected group?

Regardless if the power load is higher the 500 watt power supply needs much more inrush and spike current draws.

Our SMART DC switches were designed to hook directly to the battery banks then hook the charging unit also directly to the battery bank.

PLEASE READ THIS POST: https://forum.netonix.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4450&p=27007&hilit=+heaven+forbid#p27007

Then hook your WS-26-500-DC "directly" to the battery bank as it was designed to. With in an inline breaker of course.
https://www.google.com/search?q=dc+breaker&rlz=1C1MSIM_enUS722US723&oq=DC+breaker&aqs=chrome.0.0l6.1305j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

I understand this Meanwell power supply is 480 watts but the SMART DC 500 watt is under rated which means it is more than 500 watts and can use much more wattage during inrush and spikes which may only be for a micro second but long enough for the Meanwell power supply to see over current which it considers a short then shuts down then the spike passes and it turns back on.

Or use the WS-26-DC and the NDR-480-48
