Hi, I have the same problem with a WS-12-250-DC Firmware Version 1.5.4 which lost access to web admiration and deactivated two POE ports after a physical reboot.

After removing DC power management it still does not allow access via WEB

Some command to try to start the Web interface

I have communication via ping and managed to enter via SSH

To regain access, try to run the following:
Code: Select all
/etc/init.d/lighttpd restart

If that doesn't work then please show the output from the following (record the output separately)
Code: Select all
ps

cat /var/log/messages

If you do manage to regain access to the interface, please upgrade to 1.5.5rc2 - several of the fixes there may have been relevant to this situation.

I experienced it for a long time that sometime, It's happen that the revert fonction won't work.

I'm under impression the switch will return just long enough to confirm the new config before loosing access again like if the're sometime some kind of gap between the switch API confirmation and the whole config being apply on the switch core.

That would appear to be the reason. /etc/lighttpd.conf has an error in the config.

Try posting the contents of /etc/lighttpd.conf

Code: Select all
cat /etc/lighttpd.conf

Or, you can also try defaulting the switches configuration

In the CLI (not the linux terminal) run
Code: Select all
reload defaults

However, this happened in 1 of 3 ways.

1) You for may have been editing the lighttpd.conf file directly and made a mistake when saving
2) Upon saving changes from the web UI, a corruption occurred during the update
3) It's possible the flash are beginning to go bad.

For the third possibility there is reason to believe that might be what's happening because of the log statement:
jg0007 wrote:Dec 31 20:00:04 kernel: JFFS2 notice: (269) check_node_data: wrong data CRC in data node at 0x000c000c: read 0x3cb52fc0, calculated 0x580773df.

JFFS2 is referencing the flash where the config data and the firmware itself is stored. So it's possible that's why this error occurred.

Or, you can also try defaulting the switches configuration

In the CLI (not the linux terminal) run
Code: Select all
reload defaults

Code: Select all

If I execute this command I do not lose the configuration made the netonix?

It appears that the lighttpd.conf file has been cut off about halfway through the text.
I'm really starting to think you have a flash problem on this switch.

But in the mean time.

In the linux terminal, run these commands:
Code: Select all
nano /etc/lighttpd.conf.new

Then, paste in the following contents:
Code: Select all
server.port = 80
server.max-worker = 3
server.stream-response-body = 1
server.use-ipv6 = "enable"

$SERVER["socket"] == ":443" {
 ssl.engine = "enable"
 ssl.pemfile = "/etc/config/lighttpd.pem"
}

# bounce all HTTP requests to HTTPS
$HTTP["scheme"] == "http" {
 $HTTP["host"] =~ "([^:/]+)" {
 url.redirect = ("^/(.*)" => "https://%1/$1")
 }
}

server.modules = (
 "mod_rewrite",
 "mod_redirect",
# "mod_alias",
# "mod_auth",
# "mod_status",
# "mod_setenv",
 "mod_fastcgi",
 "mod_proxy",
# "mod_simple_vhost",
 "mod_cgi",
# "mod_ssi",
# "mod_usertrack",
# "mod_expire"
)

server.network-backend = "write"

server.document-root = "/www/"

index-file.names = ( "index.html", "default.html", "index.htm", "default.htm", "index.php" )

mimetype.assign = (
 ".pdf" => "application/pdf",
 ".class" => "application/octet-stream",
 ".pac" => "application/x-ns-proxy-autoconfig",
 ".swf" => "application/x-shockwave-flash",
 ".wav" => "audio/x-wav",
 ".gif" => "image/gif",
 ".jpg" => "image/jpeg",
 ".jpeg" => "image/jpeg",
 ".png" => "image/png",
 ".ico" => "image/x-icon",
 ".css" => "text/css",
 ".html" => "text/html",
 ".htm" => "text/html",
 ".js" => "text/javascript; charset=utf-8",
 ".woff" => "application/font-woff",
 ".txt" => "text/plain",
 ".dtd" => "text/xml",
 ".xml" => "text/xml"
 )

$HTTP["url"] =~ "\.pdf$" {
 server.range-requests = "disable"
}

static-file.exclude-extensions = ( ".php", ".pl", ".fcgi", ".lua", ".cgi", ".json" )

server.pid-file = "/var/run/lighttpd.pid"

server.upload-dirs = ( "/tmp" )

cgi.assign = ( ".lua" => "/usr/bin/lua", ".php" => "/usr/bin/php-cgi" )

url.rewrite = (
 "^/api/v1/status/(.+)$" => "/stats.fcgi?$1",
 "^/api/(.+)$" => "/api.php/$1"
)

fastcgi.server = (
 ".php" => ((
 "bin-path" => "/usr/bin/php-fcgi",
 "socket" => "/tmp/php.socket",
 "max-procs" => 3,
 "bin-environment" => (
 "PHP_FCGI_CHILDREN" => "1",
 "PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUESTS" => "10000"
 )
 )),
 "stats.fcgi" => ((
 "bin-path" => "/www/stats.fcgi",
 "socket" => "/tmp/stats.socket",
 "max-procs" => 3
 ))
)

proxy.server = (
 "/shell" =>
 ( (
 "host" => "127.0.0.1",
 "port" => 4200
 ) )
)

Then exit nano by pressing Ctrl+o to save (hit enter to save)
Ctrl+x to exit

Then when you're back in the terminal, run

Code: Select all
rm /etc/lighttpd.conf
mv /etc/lighttpd.conf.new /etc/lighttpd.conf
/etc/init.d/lighttpd restart

Give it a minute and then check to see if you can access the switches web UI.

If this works, please upgrade to 1.5.5rc2 - it may help prevent this issue. However, if you see this happen again after that, you may want to consider an RMA to get the flash repaired.

Btw, if it doesn't work (or something else is wrong afterwards)

The safest bet would be to default the switch from the CLI:
Code: Select all
reload defaults

Keep in mind that when you do that the ip address will be 192.168.1.20/24, so to re-configure the switch - you need it to be on a network that is setup so that it is accessible.
If it STILL doesn't work after that, then the defaults have failed to load because the flash has failed and the unit must be RMA'd
