high load averages and storage partition useage

Tue Jul 23, 2019 5:55 pm

Good day everyone,
I know the firmware is older (1.5.1 rc4) on this switch but I am still curious what would cause this. We havent upgraded this switch as it has been chugging along for just under a year without any problem but today when we attempted to change 2 vlan port tagging from one port to another the switch did its usual countdown from 300 seconds but then all connectivity past the switch stopped for a minute or so and then came back up.

Looking in to everything, we noticed the load averages were quite high (as you can see in the screenshot) and there was also a message about there not being enough free space.

df -h shows /jffs as only have around 300kb free yet inspecting the contents show maybe 1.5mb of usage

top is showing multiple instances of "switch" with around 15% cpu whereas other switches in similar usage show one maybe 2 instances.

most options (discovery, etc) have been turned off other than NTP and SNMP.

What I am curious about is how the switch spanned so many instances of "switch" and why the storage device is reporting 4mb of useage when it appears to be around 1.5
