Stacking the 8-port switch?
Stacking the 8-port switch?
Is there any reason we should not stack a couple of the switches in an enclosure by using a longer screw through the mounting holes? There does not seem to be any ventilation holes on top or bottom. Wonder if it would get too hot? Sure would help with space until the 12-port unit is available.

If you notice on the new pictures for the 8 and 12 port small switches we did add holes to the top of the chassis, not that they are NEEDED but we figured the more air flow the better and what if the fan fails and the user never replaces it.
Stacking "should" be OK, but you could add a spacer washer or small plastic tube between the switches to allow 1/4" gap?
Now where would you find long enough screws that small of diameter? The holes are a little smaller then I think a 4" screw would fit?
If you drill the holes out larger then what about the metal shavings that get inside, not good.

Re: Stacking the 8-port switch?
I was wondering about the pictures, if that was an old design or if the unit I have is the old design.

The unit you have is from the first small engineering/practice/test batch of less than 200 units, I explained this on the forum.
The decals were wrong, the chassis did not fit exactly together as intended and at the last minute we decided to add cooling holes to the 8 port same as the 12 port so they used the same lids, can't hurt and keeps costs down!
