Hi All,
Earlier today one of our WS-12-250-DC switches was flagged for a failing fan.
Just ordered a new unit to swap in.
In the mean-time is there anyway to kick start the fan?
I haven't rebooted the switch yet concerned that it might not restart and wanted to get the forum's opinion before doing so.
Thanks
Mark

This might be helpful:

Rebooting the switch with a failing fan should not prevent you from accessing the switch. Although if the switch is in a hot/humid environment continuing to run it could put it at risk.
In terms of kickstarting it, they talk about it on that thread, but basically, adjusting the screw's might help loosen it enough to spin. Obviously though, if the fan has gone completely bad. You need the replacement.

Re: WS-12-250-DC - Fan 1 is failing
We swapped in a replacement switch this morning. The new one is working fine.
Back at the shop I opened the switch with the bad fan. The fan feels like it has gum in the mechanism. Manually spinning the blades requires a fair amount of force.
So two questions:
1) If I install a new fan can I trust the switch after it was running very hot for a few days? ("Hot" in this context is the CPU & PHY temps reporting a bit over 110 C.)
2) Can I buy a replacement switch from Netonix?
Thanks
Mark

Right now we are out of fans which is why we are also out of most switches.
15,000 fans which were delayed shipping from China 10/16/2019 should be here next week
Yes I would replace fan and should be OK
https://www.netonix.com/replacemet-parts/replacement-fan-51.html
Make sure not to over tighten new fan and make sure it spins freely

Hey Chris,
Have the fans come in? The fan replacement page still shows them as out of stock.
Thanks
Mark
