Blew WS-8-150-DC w/raspberri pi POE hat

Mon Oct 21, 2019 9:30 pm

OK, misinterpretation or bad POE board?
Attached a LoveRPi Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) HAT for Raspberry Pi 4 specs:
The network switch or power sourcing equipment (PSE) must be compliant with the IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at PoE standard, particularly section 33.4.1 with regards to PSE electrical isolation of the leads. "Passive PoE" (DC 24V or 48V) is not standards compliant and may cause damage to equipment.

Thought I was with the Netonix 48V out?

Blew power supply, POE Hat adapter board and raspberry pi board. WhoopS !!

Possible the patch cable had a short or pairs were crossed? it could also be the PoE hat.

We're powering up some Pi 4B+ with PoE hats using just "48v" on the port, no problem even them at full CPU load.

Thank you for that. I had gone over all I could think on this, the cable was fine. Just bad luck (and oversight) I didn't bench test it first on a less expensive POE unit.
