Operational Temperature Range - where to worry?

Wed Jun 24, 2020 3:50 pm

I have a WS-12-250-DC unit operating inside an enclosure on the roof of a building, the enclosure is in direct sunlight most of the day.

The unit is currently showing:

At what thermal levels should I be worried about the unit? My only worry at the moment is that we're not anywhere near our peak ambient temperatures for the summer, and the fan is running at around 90% of its RPM range.

Ambient today is 89F/31C but during the peak of our heat it can be as much as 105F/40C during the hottest part of the summer.

The enclosure does have a temp controlled fan connected to the battery bank, but I don't have a way to monitor its' status.

A few minutes after posting this, the WS-12-250-DC rebooted unexpectedly.

While viewing the system status it's showing some odd information, reporting 0.0V input voltage on the graph, but the line is up around 54v which is about right. Input current shows "infinity" but the graph appears to have the correct value. Efficiency is blank, but again the graph appears to show correct values. This behavior is the same in multiple browsers, though as I typed that sentence it snapped to working in chrome, and opening again in firefox shows data.

Nether the log in the system interface or the logged messages to syslog have any useful information as to why the switch rebooted.
