AFAIK that down-then-up workaround was for a case where the switch had 1.5.5 at birth.

I am seeing the "VLAN issue". To coin the phrase above, my WS-12-250-AC had 1.5.5 at birth.
Please please please can someone help me out with 1.5.3 firmware so I can make my brand new switch actually work?

Regards,
Ross.

Here's a link to the 1.5.3 firmware from Netonix's archive.

New switch with 1.5.5 would not forward packets. Downgraded to 1.5.3, forwarding normally, upgraded back to 1.5.5 and it's continuing to forward packets normally.

Unpacked a new WS-12-250-AC running 1.5.5. today, Same thing. Switch acting like port isolation is enabled, though the config shows it's not.

Enabled isolation, disabled isolation. Traffic flows. Reboot, and it does not.

Downgraded to 1.5.3, tried to break it, but could not. Upgraded back to 1.5.5, works fine, even after defaults.

I am aware of these reports and it is high priority on my to do list to figure out what's happening. In the mean time everyone has access to the 1.5.3 in the archive for this thread if you run into the issue just follow the procedure to fix it by downgrading to 1.5.3 and upgrading back to 1.5.5.

Once again you can get the firmware here

Quick topology:

Router-tower 1 -> tower 2 -> tower 3 (different management vlans per tower)

Tower 1 is running 1.5.2, tower 2&3 are running 1.5.5.

Tower 2&3 both rebooted, hit >120 megs according to SNMP data. I did manage to get a ps aux output before tower 3 rebooted.

On tower 1, spanning tree started flapping facing tower 2. see further below. After both 1.5.5 switches rebooted this behavior did not return.

How long was the flapping occurring before the reboot happened?
