removing the filter caps has a very slim chance of affecting performance....if you are right at FM tower, the signal will be so strong the filter caps can;t filter it very well....it is a matter of picking which evil to get rid of....very rare that filter caps will help, while it seems a huge amount of wisp installations have AC power ground issues...and like I said, many competitor switches ( including UB) do not have the filter caps, as they learned this lesson a long time ago more than likely.

I wouldn't even recommend anyone try & remove all the filter caps themselves....and that is the probable real solution.

:headb: ... Dave, did you read my entire post? ... I didn't disagree with anything you are saying and I did say that if we have PCB REV J (no filter caps) we should leave it as is.

But since you said the original idea in the beginning of this thread of shorting power & shield ground showed no positive effect, I also spent a LOT of time coming up with my suggestion and laying out my case in points #4 & 5...

Namely if someone IS stuck with older PCB REV A - E,

then moving C290's connection from shield to power ground should have the desired effect of eliminating bad shield ground effects from entering the circuit without the risk of removing 48 individual filter caps.

So c'mon Dave, we should all be in these forums learning and working together ( N.I.H. possibly creeping in serves no one). So unless you find my design logic in #5 is flawed, how about a little acknowledgement for my slick idea so that others won't waste their time on the original ground x-connect mod in this thread (the way I did on several boards) and instead choose a doable mod with the desired result ?
