So, today - I had the Ethernet interface drop on the AP - I have swapped it with another port to see if the problem follows the cable / device or if something else is wrong.

I had to "bounce" the port on the Netonix to get it back when the problem first happened today.

It was the port that is (now just data no POE) for our Mimosa A5c. It had been "port flapping" a bit as of about Jan 3rd.

Here is some of the log when this happened today.

Code: Select all

You can see (And I did not provide all of the log) that this port had been "port flapping" a bit - but only for like 4 or 5 seconds, before we had this "full down" issue.

I have to say that the Netonix is pretty well made and thought out - port bouncing, watchdog all good features.

I will report back with the final outcome here when I find / put this intermittent issue to rest.

I can say that I have not seen any more "freeze" issues with the POE offloaded to a brick - but no longer have the AP on battery back up / Netonix power - Perhaps when I move to 48VH all will be well.

So, a few things :

We "found" that we are not supposed to use lightning arrestors with any Mimosa A5, B5 B24 etc. So we removed one from a site that was bouncing.

We moved 2 sites that had these port bouncing issues to no arrestor and 48VH - One site keept having major issues...

However - in the end we did have a radio that went bad and we RMA'd it / replaced it -

New radio went in no more errors - no more problems!

Having said that in the past few days of rain and weather - we started seeing "port bouncing" again - but no errors on the Netonix. (At the site where we replaced the AP)

We did also move to 48VH for the Mimosa A5c - the B24 is still at 48V regular. Have to say that the B5c has NOT had any issues on the same darn tower!
So weird....

But that is the report for now.

AP RMA'd / replaced and no more bouncing.

Been a few months.

My thought is that the lesson here is / if you DO have a bad cable with a short in it - it may freeze up the Netonix.

Odd - but that was my experience.

Have I re-produced this ? No - Perhaps someone would like to?

I don't think it's odd.
