After disabling IPv6 on our servers side, the issue no longer happened. Is this pointing at how the netonix is handling ipv6?

The main thing is we do only see the couple of IPv6 multicast packets with the netonix is not online or only connected with a single port but when it is online or connected with both 10G ports, it appears to re-broadcast and also takes over the router MAC address in the bridging tables of connected switches.

To my knowledge this is not a known issue.

However, I'm also not entirely certain what is happening as of yet to determine if this is expected behavior or not.

Quick question, when your server had IPv6 enabled was IPv6 enabled on the WS3? If not, try re-enabling IPv6 on the server and on the WS3 and check to see if it behaves correctly, I believe IPv6 is disabled by default on the switch (the configuration option is under the Device->Config tab)

If IPv6 was NOT enabled on the WS3 when this was happening, then this might be a similar problem to what was reported and repaired in the past on the WS series, reference: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=5687&hilit=SLAAC (follow Ludvick's posts)

If that is the case then this is a bug that I can add to the list for the first major firmware release for the WS3. If not please provide a bit more detail if possible.

While testing, IPv6 was not enabled on the WS3. I did test by enabling IPv6 on it and our router but got the same results. From what we have seen, when the issue does not occur, we only see the multicast packet once or twice on the network but when the issue occurs, the same multicast packet is getting continuously re-broadcast by the switch which also causes the router MAC address to be taken over in the MAC bridge tables. If the switch is not connected or only one port is enabled on the switch, our network is operating as expected. It is only when both ports are enabled (one forwarding and one discarding in STP) that the issue occurs.

Interesting, maybe it's only related to IPv6 in the sense that it is triggered by multicast traffic specifically. Try enabling IGMP Snooping under the Device->Configuration tab.

After enabling IGMP and IPv6 on our router, we get the same results with the multicast packet being continuously re-broadcast.

I understand, there is only 1 other issue problem I am working on that I want to finish before the release. I can't really guess the time frame until I get a chance to test it though.
