I bought a WS-8-150-DC. Pull it out of the box, power it up, plug in my laptop, assign my laptop an IP of 192.168.1.2. Open the web browser, and type in 192.168.1.20, and log into my WS-8-150-DC switch.. Everthing looks great.
I then switch IPv4 to "Dynamic", so that I can have my router give the switch an IP address..
Switch reboots, I log into my router and look for the new switch IP address.. nothing. the router never sees the switch.
I then try another router.. just to be sure it's NOT something weird with my router. I plug into another router, and that router also doesn't see anything.
???
What's gone wrong? did I miss something?
Thanks
-Richard

Re: Dynamic DHCP
Does it have the latest firmware on it? (this is *the* standard first question)
Searching for DHCP this is the most applicable thread I found:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6998&p=34920&hilit=DHCP#p34920
If you have a serial cable you could console into the switch and have a look at what it is doing.

Re: Dynamic DHCP
I updated the firmware. Now, my PFSENSE router will see it, when I switch the netonix to "DHCP", the pfsence router gives it an IP address.
However, i move the netonix back to the microtik HEX router, and it just plan refuses to see it, or give it a DHCP IPv4 address!!
Maybe Im just going to find out the MAC address, and JUST FORCE IT???
I don't know.. Ive never NOT had a DHCP server NOT see its client before when there is clearly no issues in cabliing????
weird..
