Hi everyone,
I see this switch has 100watts as the combined max output - will it run 95 watts without letting smoke out you think?
If it clipped 100watts for a second every now and then would this kill it?
I ask because these switches are awesome and i'd not be surprised if they can handle the odd spike into the 90's without burning up.
Thanks very much!

Re: Max total wattage? 6-port mini
it all depends on the ambient temperature and airflow that the switch is running in. The switch "electronics" are good for 100 watts, but that all depends on thermal stuff.

Re: Max total wattage? 6-port mini
Thanks Dave.
The switch is inside one of those Tycon enclosures so theres no airflow.
Right now the board is 81, the CPU is 104 and PHY is 100. This will go up with seasonal changes.
How close to the max temp is OK? Should I base max power output on temp? Assuming under 100watts?
Is there a temp and wattage that makes them go pop? Very happy with these switches, they are awesome!
Thank you
