Re: v1.5.25 Bug Reports and Comments
Have updated 2 WS-12-250-DC to this version. So far drama free. If still good in a week we will push to more of our 200+ switches.

What is the underlying platform/routing daemon?sirhc wrote:All I can tell you is WS3 which was delayed will blow your mind especially once we activate routing later after initial release.

This is HARDWARE routing not software routing.
The switch core in the WS3 has routing built into the core we just never used it.
Now the new WS3-14E is a newer version of SOC with a bigger CPU to run UI CLI and things like do the OSPF convergence.
But the routing is all done in the core. All OSPF does is convergence and update the core with a new routing table (static routes) when convergence occurs.
So it will be capable of line speed of all ports.
This is NOT a software router where all packets are touched by the CPU. Think more like how a cisco router routes not a software router on a computer.
Hope that makes sense to you and understand this is NOT a software router, routing is handled in the core.

Yes I get that you're saying its a hardware forwarding platform, but what is the (network) operating system that it runs, and what features/protocols does that support?
Bit of a tangent but Cisco, Juniper et all still make plenty of non HW accelerated platforms even today.

Re: v1.5.25 Bug Reports and Comments
We have not decided which protocols we will enable.
Obviously static routes and OSPF.
BGP is doubtful as it does not have enough static routes to hold the world routes.
QOS / bandwidth control / firewall

We use BGP routing in our network but only need about 300 routs in the routing table, we have default gatway to our DC witch handle the full routing table.
We use MK switches today to hardware route our 10Gbit/s backbone, it wout be great to do it all in Netonix so we dont need to have that moutch equipmint in our tower bokses

Re: v1.5.25 Bug Reports and Comments
One of my recently updated switches had the same SNMP issue previously reported in 1.5.22. Restarting the SNMP service by disabling / re-enabling in the configuration resolved the issue.
I expect to see many more instances of this issue as I upgrade more of our network.

LoTR
RTGLW and our teams testing is going well for 1.5.25, we are doing a slow roll out and haven't incurred any issues so far.
