I've noticed this several times now across multiple WISP switches and multiple computers running Chrome... both Mac and PC. It may happen on other browsers as well, but I only use Chrome for the most part.
It appears that whenever certain popup HTML based alerts/windows appear, this causes the browser to lose its connection to the switch (a salmon colored popup appears at the top of the switch saying: Attempting to reestablish communication with the device ...)
and the session can only be re-established by refreshing the page. Alerts include event reminders popping up in Google Calendar or Messages being received through the Google Chat inside Gmail.
Hopefully this won't be too difficult to fix as makes monitoring the switch frustrating if any other tabs are open that produce these kinds of messages. It definitely isn't a connectivity issue as pings continue to run to and through the device with no interruption. Also, this has happened across multiple firmware versions of the software. I am currently running 1.02.

I will say something to Eric to look at this post. I knew you were having this issue sine we spoke about it on the phone. I am glad you tracked it down to what seems to cause it because I was unable to reproduce it on my end.
I know we are releasing a LOT of firmware version upgrades and it is not always fun to interrupt communications to do an upgrade and if one is not having an issue then there is no need to upgrade if they do not want to or none of the fixes applies to them but if you are having an issue please upgrade to the latest version and make sure the problem is still there otherwise the programmer might take time to investigate something that already got fixed either intentionally or was fixed as a by product of fixing something else.
But I will push this on to Eric.

I also cannot reproduce this. I tried Calendar event reminders and chat notifications, it never seems to affect the switch UI.
Can you give us a step by step guide to reproduce this?

I spoke to Chris on the phone about it as he indicated and was hesitant at the time to pinpoint that as the exact issue, but it has continued to this day and always seems to be related to a chat or other notification such as a calendar reminder appearing. It isn't immediate and doesn't happen every time, but if I only have a single tab open with the switch's web interface, all seems to be good.
I'll mess with it some more and see if I can more definitively track down a pattern and steps to reproduce the issue.

Any information may be pertinent, so please feel free to pass along whatever you may have noticed. Obviously if you do manage to make the issue happen on command, that would be wonderful. But we've found solutions to problems based on what seemed like the most unrelated information at the time, so you never know.

Anything ever come of this? I'm getting this with Chrome on OSX. Firefox does not have the issue. Anything I can do to help debug?

With Chrome are you logged in with your account?
If you use Chrome and are logged in with the browser and another computer with Chrome that is logged into the same account opens the same switch it will fight and kick each other off as it messes with the certificates somehow.
Other then that I can log into my switches and stay logged in for DAYS with no issues with Chrome.

Unfortunately, I still continue to experience this issue on Chrome on both Windows and OS X computers though I regularly receive the message regarding lost communication with the switch even when I am not logged into the switch from both the other computers. I don't see that it is an issue where the computers are fighting for access because I am sure only one is logged in at one time. We have lived with it to this point because thankfully we are not having to login to the switches too often, but when we do, it is frustrating. Was going to revisit the request myself at some point but knew there were larger issues that the Netonix crew was working on.

If you can re-create this at will I will ask Eric if he would mind letting you demonstrate this issue for him. I take it you have Teamviewer?
