Well, factory defaulted the white label WS-8-250-AC v1.2.0rc12, then the only thing I configured is Discovery / Ubiquiti [x]

Tried the newest java / windows Discovery v2.4.1 and a v5.6.1-beta2 airRouter pull down tools:

whether from the tool initial start, or click scan, or clear/scan

All the ubnt devices work fine, but switch does not respond.

HOWEVER, I then went back and exited v2.4.1 and initial started java v2.3 Discovery tool and damn,

All the ubnt devices work fine, AND the switch responds correctly

BUT if I clear/scan from v2.3, again it does not work. :screwb:

I wonder just how many lines of kluge code and delay / timing loops are randomly added in airOS just to meet release schedules??? :willy:

Hey guys I just pushed a BETA v1.3.0 to the Associates that has the beginning of POE Smart.

Eric was working on Radius authentication as well for v1.3.0 and a few other features but I made him stop to put POE Smart in so once we finalize v1.2.0 hopefully soon after we BETA v1.3.0 awhile with the Associates we will start releasing v1.3.0.rcX versions to the public in a couple weeks maybe.

Now that we have a good firmware base with v1.2.0 we will be a little more careful on v1.3.0rcX releases but that might also mean a little slower but v1.2.0 is pretty solid I think and has the features 95% of the people will ever need.

We needed to get v1.2.0 finalized and out because the WS-12-250-XX, WS-6-MINI, and WS-8-250-DC "NEED" v1.2.0 as v1.1.8 does not support them.
Support is handled on the Forums not in Emails and PMs.

OOOOOOOKKKKKKK this is kinda weird. I have had this WS-8-250-AC-white up on the new version for maybe 8 hours today. As you can see from some previous posts, I was trying to get the details for the simplest case of Discovery not working, so I reset to factory defaults from the WebUI and when it came back, applied the change for ubiDiscovery and did the testing I described above. Then just left it there while I posted my results.

I came back and figured, hey, I should test ssh. Got in just fine. typed a "?" Wanted to see what the CLI configuration might look like. Typed "con" enter, followed by ? and read the list of commands in that mode. Typed exit, enter. Back to main prompt.

But then on my WebUI session window got the message:

"The configuration has changed on the device. You will not be able to save any configuration changes. Click here to reload the configuration." (Unexpected since I had not made any changes)

Well I remembered that I wanted to set the IP to 192.168.1.21 (what I had before setting to defaults) . So I exited the ssh session. Then "Clicked here".

Seemed to reload the config. So I updated the IP and save applied. It took a few seconds to come back on the new IP. I clicked the Ports tab so I could turn POE back on port 6.

It displayed that page, then locked up and would no longer reply (no https, ssh, or ping) on 192.168.1.21 nor .20 . Traffic passed through it just fine. POReboot did not help. PC had no problems getting to the airRouter I was testing with on .110 off of the same 8 port 10/100 dumb switch they shared. Clearing PC ARP cache did not help. unplugging AirRouter did not help.

Tried everything except a console cable (which my partner had borrowed). So I finally tried the 10sec Reset switch on POReboot. That worked.

Since then I went back through the same steps, but could not reproduce.

There are a few hundred hours of uptime on this switch and it has gone through several firmware upgrades, this is the first time having to resort to the reset button.

Just tryed the STP / Loop detection problem and it seem fix. The're something else strange. Loop dectection seem to disable port for a second and enable it again after. I aslo see that it always alternate between the two ports the're a loop. Is this a desired beavior ? Just asking since it was not like this before. Anyway, loop detection still seem to work fine.

Untagging the same port on multiple VLAN via CLI is fix.
"show vlans" now show management vlans ip address.
"show config" too long to read the whole config is also fix.

Thanks.

One more thing that would be nice is have the "show" command always available in CLI. When the CLI is in configure mode, vlan mode, etc. We can't use show and must open a second CLI to be able to check config.

Actually, the current behavior is just like Cisco IOS CLI, and has to do with the hierarchy of the "modes" just as you say. Honestly, in my opinion, I feel that if it was changed, it would be confusing.

I guess I have gotten used to having 2 CLI's open in Cisco (I use Windows PuTTY which makes it easy to open a duplicate session of the current one) and find that having the two CLI windows side-by-side then is a nice way to operate. :)

Yaaaa kidding, but out of frustration with them. Have you followed the airOS v5.6.xBx over the past year? It's like they have a set of patches that the developers toss into their dev library, and then build and release seems to consist of trying all the permutations and combinations of patches to roll into a beta and see what the users complain about the least, and hopefully not notice how many old bugs they are rediscovering. I'm sorry, OT.

I guess seeing how inconsistently their different flavors of the Discovery tool perform, it means life is going to be tough for Eric to keep this feature trying to match what they are doing.

Speaking of flavors, has anyone seen the Chrome app discover these switches?
