I was heavily affected by the TOUGHswitch problem. I actually managed to get rid of the problem by moving a PtP Rocket AC link to the EdgeRouter PoE instead of going through the switch.
Now I have swapped all switches to Netonix. My network is now routed with EdgeRouter, both ERL, ERPOE and ERPRO. I have a mix of PtP links connected to the switch (AF24, AF5, AF5X) and some Rocket AC Lite / PowerBeam connected to the EdgeRouter PoE.
Since I removed the TOUGHswitches I have had no problems at all regarding low download / high upload. I provide minimum 25/25 Mbps to each customer and they often get around 40/40 Mbps.
Everytime I connect new customer and do a speedtest they get similar down/up speed...
So the Netonix switches fixed my issues. The only thing I miss from the EdgeRouters are VRF. With that I could give a customer his own network (VLAN) within my route OSPF redundant network. That is not possible at the moment, unfortunately....
