I see a survey was added and while I chose "Keep doing what you are doing" it may be interpreted more than one way. I agree with those saying to add more "carrier class" features such as redundant power.

RPS could be as basic as diode isolated DC inputs where the external power source is responsible for regulating the voltage.

That would work, but I would much rather have one switch chassis I could install AC or DC power supplies in.

Um. I'm in the process of throwing out crappy old toughswitches for 6-port minis, 12-port rack mounted, etc. Love them all. Saving my life.

So they're 2-3x more expensive? Seen the price of a Mimosa pair (£1200 - around $1800USD) versus £360 for Ubiquiti NB500 AC's? Why am I installing Mimosas?

Because they work. Same as the Netonix switches. They work.

If you think $100 bucks is expensive - switch to cheaper crappier switches. After the second or third tower visit and irate customer calls - you'll soon realise that the $100 difference is a very good deal.

Dual power supply? You already have a dual power supply. Just plug in the barrel connector at the back *and* power it via PoE..

(I'm kidding. I've not tried this. But wouldn't it be cool if it worked?)

Keep up the good work.

One thing - consider shipping a metric assload of these switches over to MS distribution in the UK - my normal supplier.. That might help with your volumes?

Cheers,

---* Bill

I'd be careful doing that... depending how the internals are wired you could feed it with 80 some volts... would be cool if that worked though!

That being said... wait... what's wrong with the Ubiquiti NB500? Try the AF5x :)

You provide great value.

Maybe you can do some lower cost non-poe switches. I'd be interested in 24 and 48 port non-poe options.

As switches are very central elements esp. when they power backhauls the first thing we look at is reliability and not money.
Everyone who gets alarmed by his monitoring system in a cold night in january would give a lot of money for a switch which do not fail.

Our experiences with UBNT did not match this requirement so we dont use their equipment.

So keep up your good work and dont try to be the cheapest. Increase MTBF as far as possible.

Ubiquiti has brought upon us a decent product at a low price and now people think everything should be that cheap.
There comes a time in the life of a WISP where you have to pull up your big boy pants and spend money where money needs to be spent, IMHO.
Keep up the good work guys. We all want an $89 switch that has every feature in the world. But that's not reality.
