Can the Netonix SW support this pinout?
Its for the Cambium PTP600, it would be a great add on! GigE 54vdc

We would have to make an adapter to do this as there is no way to achieve this in software.

To achieve this you need to have a PCB made and use 2 or a Dual Ethernet Transformer which will strip off the POE power, flip it then re-insert the POE via the center PIN on the Ethernet Transformer.

Of course there will need to be 2 RJ45 jacks with ESD.

Then you have to make an injection mold and assemble it.

This would also help protect the switch from surges as well.

Total NRE costs to do this would be:
$5K to $10K for mold
$2K for PCB test fixture and initial setup
$2K in engineering fees
$1K in miscellaneous fees such as graphics and box design
Total NRE $10K

So this would also have to be factored into the price.

I am guessing even if we did these quantity 1K run the price would $30 MSRP, 10K run $25 MSRP

Not a real profitable device, more of a leader unit but either way $10K NRE + $7K to run them off and assemble and box ready to sell so a $17K investment.

$30 MSRP $21 to Disti wholesale cost so $21K revenue - $17K cost only equal $4K in revenue if your lucky and you sell 1K units in a reasonable time frame.

Now the second run would of course yield more profit as the NRE costs would be gone.

That's down from the $30K you said when you gave me a lesson a while back. :ak:

I wonder if a little bit of surgery could be done to the CB traces on the WS-6-MINI to convert port 2 over?

A few decades ago I built my own EPROM programmer and I designed it with Personality Modules so that I could flash different chips that needed different voltages on different pins. Of course the fancy ones that you could buy did it all electronically but I was too frugal. I was too cheap to buy a UV eraser so I would lay the chips out on the window ledge and let the sun erase them.

It is lower because I have learned better ways to do things! Pirate4

I think I found a way to do it:

using 2 WBMFG POE units:

http://www.wbmfg.com/products.cfm?PID=77&Cat=

One to extract DC from Netonix, the other to inject in the correct pinout

Ill test and get back to you

Interesting. You should be able to do the same thing for 450s to keep them at gig. Still, $140 per AP is a little steep to get a gig instead of 100M as they only do a max of ~125Mbps per sector anyway. Wonder if Chuck could design one unit that could do the same thing all in one unit. Perhaps we could combine Chuck and Forest into one person... SCARY... and make one unit that did this while adding gps timing.

We can design anything we want the problem is who will buy it and at what quantities determines if it is worth building.

IF we built a kick ass POE switch that powers just about everything exccept Cambium/Moto gear and we are only selling about 500 to 1000 switches per month how many people would pay extra for one that also did that?

The cost and size would be much larger as you would more than double the number of MOSFETS on the board.
