WS-MINI6 minimum voltage

Tue Jun 16, 2015 4:11 pm

What is the minimum voltage input for the WS-MINI6? The specs say 48-52 but I have run it as low as 43 (on batteries) and it still hadn't shut off.

Well keep in mind that what ever the INPUT voltage is that is what the switch will OUTPUT as 48V as it does not convert/condition that voltage.

The switch will down convert the input voltage to 24V to deliver 24V OUTPUT.

I will ask Dave what to comment on what the minimum input voltage is before it can no longer down convert to 24V and it then uses the 24V to down convert to 3.3V and 1.5V which is used to drive the switch core.

My "guess" is somewhere around 36V input but if you are giving it 36V it will output 36V as the 48V OUTPUT which is why we show the user this under the Device/Status Tab.

37 volts will turn it on, and it should stay on after that until voltage drops below 31 volts or so...not tested for this, but should by design work this way.... :geek:

WOW, this is why I am not an Electrical Engineer, I was off by 1 volt which in reality is pretty huge, I am serious, not meant to be a joke.

I am guessing then that the controller chip requires 36+ volts to engage so it then has a minimum 5V threshold to maintain operation and does not flap which the lower threshold is 31V?
