So I'm really confused about 4 pair poe, maybe someone can help me understand...?
I see many references that poeple are successfully powering saf radios with wispswitches but I don't see how ?
48HV 1245+ , 3678 -
SAF POE , 1236 + , 4578 -
How does this work!???
additionally someone on another forum was stating that he's been POWERING WS-6s using Mimosa POE bricks which are 3645+ , 1278- yet the WS-6 only should accept 1245+ 3678- right? Again , how the HECK is this working ???

best I can tell is that the saf must have some protections from being fed incorrect poe ( diodes) and on the mimosa - ws6 the mimosa poe must be shutting down 12 36 due to short, or the ws6 has ptcs on the input on each set of pairs. no other good explanation.
now the real question, who is stupid enough, or have balls big enough to blindly power even a ws6 like this and risk burning it up, let alone a $3000 saf radio to have figured out that incorrect poe somehow works ?

Well my SAF 106 radios only use 4,5 (+) and 7,8, (-) so I power with standard 48V
SAF LUMINA requires an adapter I believe
The MIMOSA radio uses the standard 4,5 (+) and 7,8, (-) but the other pins are different BUT we first asked MIMOSA because they say they have polarity protection? We were advised by MIMOSA to use the 48VH option to power them.
I can say that the MINI will only accept POE on port 1 using the standard polarity pin out used in 802.3af/at so not sure about the guy powering one with that other POE brick?
I always check POE pin outs first.

yes lumina requires a poe splitter but the poe splitter doesn't use the 48HV scheme so I'm baffled why it works.
yes I know the mimosas work 48HV wasn't disputing that one.
would you confirm that the mini uses 1245+ 3678-? I don't think there is a such thing as 802.3af/at with 4 pair power, is there ?

There absolutely is a standard for POE using all 4 pairs and it is 802.3af/at, here is the link to WIKIPEDIA

PASSIVE POE was just a bastardized version since early PASSIVE POE DEVICES were mostly 10/100 they just adopted the unused pairs (Blue + and Brown - ) PIN 4,5,7,8.
As you can see we use the 802.3af/at STANDARD
So to answer your question the WS-6-MINI expects power on the 802.3af/at STANDARD as shown below
PINS 1,2,4,5 37-53V DC POSITIVE (+)
PINS 3,6,7,8 37-53V DC NEGATIVE (-)
NOTE: whatever voltage you supply the MINI is what it will pass out as 48V, MINIMUM VOLTAGE IS 37 V DC.

The Mimosa Powerbrick says 3,6 and 4,5 are +56V the other are ground. But the B5 powered with this
brick claims to be .at compatible. So how does this match? And I am able to power WS-Mini without problem.
So does the Mimosa power brick adapt to what is required? .at has some negotiation defined in the standard.

my guess is 1236 are shorted and the brick turned them off and your only getting power on 4578

DO NOT USE MIMOSA POE BRICKS WITH THE WS-6-MINI YOU COULD FRY THE WS-6-MINI AND THAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY
I am not sure what is going on but there is no polarity protection in the WS-6-MINI.
Now the MIMOSA radios do have polarity protection and work with either 48V or 48VH as explained in several other posts.
I know what the MIMOSA POE bricks say on the decal but I have never taken the time to sit down with a Multimeter and actually see if they are delivering the polarity they claim on the decal.
Since MIMOSA is like everyone else and buys their adapters from a third party it is possible that the decal is just wrong?

I think there is a broad assumption being made that if a Mimosa radio can be powered by Netonix that a Netonix MINI can be powered by a Mimosa brick. I would not make that assumption!
