Well you can put a secondary non routable IP on each VLAN? Do not know if that would work for you?
You can access the UI/CLI via those secondary non routable IPs

I will do my own research with the 1G devices once I get some more 6's in as we are now out at the moment. Just put in an order to streakwave today. Might not be a bad idea to make a list on what can be powered on port 2 and sticky it and add it to any kind of datasheet for future reference. Thanks.
Yea I feel horrible that I did you dirt.
I will make it up to you, first off I will fix that unit obviously and I will do something else special for you. A LOT of stuff is happening this week which I just posted about the DC switches opening up for orders and there are more BIG announcements to come VERY soon so hit me up end this week or early next week on my cell and I will talk about fixing the wrong I did ya!!!!
No worries man. I will get to you when I have some time....
We did get our other spare up though and plan on doing a writeup on it soon. Works real nice. Probably the only feature request I currently have is that it would be nice if I could set an alias IP to get to management since we vlan everything. I ran into an oh crap moment when I was 80 feet up in the air and the connection that goes down to the bottom only had access to our customers internet connection as I setup everything before I went out. I ended up having to reset the switch in the air so that the guy at the bottom could get into it so we could test the cables before turning on the connection. Not really a big deal as long as everything works but if I ran into a situation where the AP locked up and I wanted to get into the switch to try and reboot it through the management side it would be nice.
Since Netonix are running linux which has IPv6 link local adresses up by default, even if you screw up your IPv4 configuration you can still access your switch the following way :
1/ Compute the IPv6 link local from the MAC address of the switch, eg:
http://www.sput.nl/internet/ipv6/ll-mac.html
2/ then use ssh (assuming eth0 is the interface of your laptop where the switch is plugged, could be eth0.234 if VLAN 234 is needed)
- Code: Select all
ssh -l admin fe80::ee13:b2ff:fe91:462%eth0 -L 8443:localhost:443
3/ then on your laptop browser :
- Code: Select all
https://localhost:8443/
Note: if your browser supports IPv6 link local you can do without the ssh and go directly to
- Code: Select all
https://[fe80::ee13:b2ff:fe91:462%eth0]
Sadly most browser don't support this.

That might work for me chris. I will give that a shot in my lab.

Thanks for taking the time to run the tests.
May be the following will work in MINI port 2 to convert 48VH to 24V :
http://routerboard.com/RBGPOE-CON-HP
I'll order one in the coming days.
I just received RBGPOE-CON-HP and even if they're rated 802.3af/at only on input they seem to work fine on port 2 of the WS-6-MINI set to 48VH.
The RBGPOE-CON-HP output is 24V (4,5+ 7,8 - 1A) and I successfully powered a LocoM5 (Fast ethernet) and a NanoBeam 19 (Gigabit ethernet).
It's a very small device (no spec sheet on Mikrotik web site): 11cm long, 7cm large, 2.5cm height, exterior all metal. No visible screw so I did not open it.

WS-6-MINI-NOVH Re: 24VH and Ubiquity 24V ?
Given the people that are trying very hard use the 24VH port as straight old 24V, what would you all in the forum think about Netonix offering:
Either a second model, WS-6-MINI-NOVH, which has power to the second pair set disabled so that port 2 only does 24V and 48V, just like ports 3-6?
OR have a long handle 2-pin berg jumper which disables power to the second pair set on port 2, that can be pulled off the board with mini long nose pliers through a hole in the case?
