We have asked people to put up reviews and pictures of their installations of their DC switches along with comments to help us decide when we will order the next production run and how many beyond the small batch due out in mid September.
We have shipped almost 200 DC switches and less than 20 people have even commented on them which is disappointing because it has made us hesitant to commit to another production batch which takes up to 12 weeks from start to finish so after this next batch there could be a long wait?
For us to commit to a large production run it takes over a quarter million dollars so we NEED more feedback.
Please take the time to comment on your installations.

DC Switches feedback
Every bit of information helps, answers to questions like these:
What input DC voltage you plan to use if using the WS-12-250-DC or WS-8-250-DC: 12/24/36/48/other
What input DC voltage you plan to use if using the WS-12-DC: 37-53V
ON grid or OFF grid sites?
What do you plan to power with it?

We love the DC switches!
Unlike many others, I strongly believe that all sites should be DC-powered, regardless of availability of grid power.
Using an UPS (charger-battery-inverter) is unwise IMHO (that's an understatement) - it's troublesome and costly.
All of our sites are DC-Powered and only a handful are off-grid!
Before Netonix, we used modified ToughSwitch-Pro units (essentially yanked out the power supply and modified two ports to power AirFibers/Mimosa type of devices. These switches are far from great (that's another understatement) and modifications are time consuming.
Netonix DC units solve these problems and do so much more.
We're even using a WS-12-DC unit in an off-gird site that has no conditioning/regulation - it's powered directly off the battery and the voltage goes as high as 57.3v (I've seen this number reported in the WS-12-DC unit itself). So obviously, they are working fine at these voltage levels that are much higher than their own spects (I wonder if that's safe to do for the long run?).
We know the gear powered by the Netonix happily support these voltage levels, as it's been powered the same way using the modified ToughSwitch units for very long.
Devices that I can confirm are working happily on these levels: AF24, AF5, Rocket Titanium, etc..
We plan to purchase MANY more of these Netonix DC switches.
The smarter 250 units, would also allow us to do away with our networked power monitors (horrible devices by Tycon - called TPDIN-something).
This would be a big saving, as well as a major reduction in sites complexity and time to setup a relay site (wiring these Tycon monitors is a nightmare).
More feedback as we play with the WS-12-250-DC units - which are out of stock again... Wish I had some to explore.
I presume they have strong SNMP support to export the voltage and other power readings - it's essential to integrate with existing NNS systems!
Obviously, in-built alerts (via SMTP) regarding various power-related thresholds are also nice to have and would be very welcome.

We're using the WS-12-250-DC at a limited number of critical sites (fiber feed points). Prior to the availability of the DC model we had modified three AC models (yes I know that voids the warranty) to allow an extra 48vDC input in addition to the AC input. So far we have three modified units installed and one actual DC unit installed.
In this application the WS-12-250-DC has two sources of 48vDC, one from commercial power directly and one from a UPS. These two DC sources connect through isolation diodes to the Netonix switch.
In each case, the units are mounted on shelves in 19" racks indoors.
We had already standardized on WS-12-250-AC units for all major radio relay points, so we have more than a dozen Netonix AC switches deployed, each powered by a single AC UPS. Our typical application powers two AirFiber 24 radios as well as several other Ubiquiti AirMax radios and has two ports connected to two ports of a Ubiquiti Edgerouter-Lite.
Going forward, we'll use the DC units with isolation diodes where we want redundant power feeds and AC units at most sites (where we have AC UPS in any event). We are fans of the WS-12-250 in either AC or DC form. So far we have only two or three AirFiber 24 radios at any one site. This will change in next 60 days, so the WS-12-400 looks interesting.

Will Streakwave get any of the WS-8-250-DC units in the next couple of weeks and, if so, are all of them pre-orders or can I get 10 of them? I'm supposing I should get with my sales rep first thing tomorrow...
We have 8 locations that this is the switch we're waiting for - one of the sites is solar and 7 of them have a battery backed Meanwell DRC-100 power supply (http://www.meanwell.com/webapp/product/ ... od=DRC-100). At each of these locations at most there will be < 40W worth of devices (e.g. 1 or 2 Mobotix cameras, a NanoBeam, and a UniFi Outdoor Plus) - a mix of 24V and 48V PoE which should give us a comfortable margin even with temperature de-rating (since we live in toasty land).
So, if I can get my grimy mitts on these I'll give some feedback
BTW, tomorrow I'm expecting a box that will include a couple of WS-12-250-AC that I'm really stoked to try out.
