One of the long awaited AirFiber features recently became available where you can set the radio to Drop the ethernet link if the link capacity falls below a certain threshold. For rain fade at's an amazing feature. When the link fades the ethernet link drops, OSPF does it's thing and 1 or 2 pings are lost and the backup takes over.
When using the switch as a midspan like you do HEREwe lose that feature as our router does not see the ethernet link drop since the switch is in between. Having that instant fail over is crucial to using AF24 on longer links. Is there any option here or could there be a way to make it turn off the midspan port as well?

Yes this is possible, I will look at getting Eric to put this in v1.4.X along with some other goodies we thought up

Re: AirFiber Track Radio Link Freature with Netonix switch
Just checking in to see if this has the chance of becoming a feature soon. I want to replace all of my digital logger POE24 units with WS-12-250DC switches but really need to be able to use this feature.
My first WS-12-250DC is running perfect at my brand new solar site!

Are you using EdgeRouters ? If you are then look forward to v1.8 firmware with BFD for OSPF. That will be just what you're looking for :-)

BFD can't do that.

Re: AirFiber Track Radio Link Freature with Netonix switch
We are transitioning from Cisco to Juniper so BFD is obviously an option, but as Mike99 mentioned, we much prefer to drop an interface when capacity gets below a certain threshold. This was one of our big holdups on running our AF24s through Netonix. In the end, we are running them through the Netonix switches anyway because it makes the power end of things so much easier to deal with.

Thanks so much for the suggestion! I use Mikrotik but only tried BFD once or twice a few years back and didn't have much luck with it and kinda forgot about it. I have spent the last few nights testing it out on certain links. It works very well! So well in fact that even with the Netonix in between, I am only losing 2 and sometimes 3 pings max with a simulated link failure. I haven't tried lowering the threshold timer yet. I want to make sure there are no false positives. This is working so well I am very pleased. These are all AF5X and AF24 links. Not sure how it would do over a rocket or older 802.11 based radio.
I owe you a beer!

@wifi442 I'm looking forward to the beer
@mike99 Strange ?!?! That's exactly what I'm doing with my test setup of 3 EdgeRouter X and 3 WS-6-MINI switches.
Why do you think that is not possible with OSPF and BFD ?
